As a person who has a holiday home here, I came here for dinner earlier this week whereas normally I go to the Coolum surf club. I ordered the barramundi chips and salad. I thought the fish tasted a little funny at the time, the chips had a very weird flavouring to them and there was an unnecessary clearly bottle based dressing on the salad. I was hungry so I ate it all. Unfortunately I’m sad to say I spent the next 24hrs with diarrhoea and and vomiting. This was extremely disappointing. A positive point was they now have a TAB. I would not suggest eating here unless you are wanting a day off work.
Great position, easy parking however the lunch time Barra, chips & salad was disappointing. Not due to the taste but the size. Six chips and the smallest piece of fish I have ever seen. A positive was the decent portion of salad(hence the 2 stars).
Beautiful Spot!. The Marcoola Surf Club overlooks the ocean so it’s the perfect place to have a meal and enjoy a spectacular view! My partner and I had been walking along the beach (15 September) when we noticed what we thought looked like a restaurant. Sure enough after coming up the sandy trail, we discovered that it was the Marcoola Surf Life Saving Club.Once inside we were greeted by the bartender who asked if we had a membership with them or any other club. Unfortunately, we had left our German Club membership card at home which would have given us membership prices on the menu. Oh well; we’ll know for next time.We had a look out of the floor-to-ceiling windows at the breathtaking view! We were going to sit outside, but the wind was too strong so we decided to sit at a table right by the windows. We had grabbed a menu and although it wasn’t exactly inexpensive, there were a lot of great choices on the menu. In that we were there for lunch, I couldn’t bring myself to pay the $15-17 for a burger or $20-28 for a steak, so instead I ordered the Potato Wedges for $8 while my partner ordered the House Made Beef Burger ($17) which also came with chips. The girl behind the counter was an absolute delight and had a great sense of humour! She told us she would bring our meals out to us and mentioned not to forget our cutlery when we began to walk away. Great customer service! My partner and I waited a touch longer than we probably should have for our food but it was right at noon and the kitchen had just opened. It didn’t really matter as we were mesmerized by the view! True to her word, the waitress brought out our food and again, was quite pleasant to us!The portions were quite big, especially my potato wedges! This was a meal unto itself! They had come out extremely hot, perfectly crisp and undoubtedly fresh! Coated nicely with a bit of grease and some salt, the wedges were thick enough to actually taste the potato inside. The wedges came with two dips: Sour cream and Sweet Chilli Sauce. A nice choice to have in that they were both quite different to each other. I chose the sweet chilli sauce which had a tangy zip to it but finished on a delicate sweet note. A wonderful contrast to the salty crispiness on the outside and mild flavour of the potato inside. My partner’s house made burger was piled high with bacon, tomato, onion jam, beetroot, cheese, egg, along with BBQ sauce. There was also a mountain of chips which were also as hot as my wedges had been. The homemade pattie was definitely that – homemade! I tried a piece of it and it reminded me of the patties my mother made that had a slight taste of Salisbury steak. Mouth wateringly fantastic! All of the other ingredients were fresh and had been cooked up that way and had not been sitting around. For the price, it certainly was great value! When we were done, the same waitress cleared our dishes, thanked us and finished with a “see you again”. There are so many people I could recommend the Marcoola Beach Surf Club to and for so many reasons: The view, the club itself which was clean and neat, the food and the friendly service! Overall, this is a place that should be experienced for a variety of occasions like, meeting with friends for lunch, a celebration dinner or even a romantic date night. Any time my partner and I are in the Marcoola Beach area, we will certainly come visit this Surf Club again!!
