Gold Coast German Club. Most of the people at the German Club know each other, so when you visit as my wife and I did recently, you feel a little lost! Another couple had visited on the same night in search of hearty German food. There is no table service – you queue up at a servery where freindly volunteers serve a range of tasty traditional German dishes. Schnitzels with potatos and sauerkraut, pork knuckles or kassler with vegetables are the usual fare. There is also a bar with a good range of German and Aussie beers available. The food is cooked by local ladies of the German community. Service is not too fast, but you have time to take in the jolly atmosphere. The food is hearty, not too sophisticated, but plenty of it and tasty. The night we were there there was live music from a German band.Well worth a visit to get a small taste of the Gold Coast German community. Do try the German beers!
