Authentic Japanese food, very delicious but I would say that I would reserve this one for special occasions. Maybe I can be highly critical of the cuisine closest to my heart. I do have high expectations especially when the price point is above average. Biggest issue here was the portion size. Large sashimi platter only had 10-15 pieces and the knife work did not get the best out of the textures of what was undoubtedly, very fresh produce. The prawn dish was for me, slightly confused and had lost its authenticity. The eggplant dish was flavorful and the highlight. The sushi roll was inventive and photogenic. Positives and negatives for this very attractive modern Japanese venue. Not to say I wont be back but I possibly caught them on an off day.

We are invited to dinner on Saturday night. On arrival we are greeted by Head Waitress Catherine who ushers us to our table and provides us with drinks. We are joined by Owner Stanley who informs us that the Chef will prepare our set meal. We sip on Cocktails as we watch a constant stream of patrons, including Darren Lockyer and family, fill up the restaurant. Our meal is served after 20 minutes. * Large Sashimi ($31.50) is beautifully presented. The fish is sourced from Tasmania and is air freighted thrice weekly. The Hokkaido Scallops, Salmon, Tuna and King Dory Sashimi taste super fresh. The standout Hapuka Cod sashimi is sensational. Rating: Perfect 5.0* Moga Roll ($18) comprises six rolls of flamed Salmon, Hokkaido Scallops and cucumber garnished with fried shallots. This Signature dish tastes so fresh, is a family favourite. Rating: 4.5* Salmon Negima ($15.30) are parcels of marinated Salmon Sashimi wrapped around shallot, sansho pepper and red onion, glazed with Unagi sauce and topped with Salmon roe. The presentation is so beautiful matching the taste. Rating: 4.5 * Firework Nigiri ($11.90) are Tempura Enoki Mushrooms and Avocado atop black Sushi rice wrapped with seaweed. An very attractive Vegetarian Nigiri which we enjoyed. Rating: 4.5* Chicken Yakitori ($8.20) are skewered Chicken pieces basted with a Yakitori Sauce. And Chicken Tsukune ($8.00) are marinated Chicken Mince balls. These two dishes are from the Robata Grill. Rating: 4.0* Pork Gyoza ($7.90) are served hot from the pan and are tasty with the dipping sauce. Rating: 4.0The Barra Mizu, Rosa Lee Lychee and Yakuza Martini Cocktails are all refreshingly delicious. Phuong Tran loves the Barra Mizu naming it her favourite 2018 Cocktail. Our compliments to Chef Vincent for a delicious meal and to our Barman for our refreshments. Moga has been trading almost seven years and seeing the packed out restaurant, it is evident local patrons keep returning for more. High quality food served by attentive wait staff in traditional uniforms makes Moga a 4 Star Japanese restaurant and as such their dishes are priced accordingly. Our thanks to our gracious host Stanley for a very enjoyable night out. Good luck Moga, Rosalie!
