Le Bistro Jardin is a gem in the unlikely location of Bundilla near locksmiths, drycleaners & op-shops. Slow down on busy Brisbane Rd approaching Mooloolaba as there’s parking around the back. The first thing you’ll notice is the cabinet of beautiful house-made french patisserie-style delicacies – the Opera cake is melt-in-your mouth with exquisite flavours. My favourite meal is simple: the best ever scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onion & mushrooms with a pot of French Earl Grey. The quality of the local, organic (if possible) ingredients with patiently perfect technique produces intense flavours but with a light touch. Le Bistro Jardin has switched its hours so they no longer do breakfast but if you mention that you’ve heard of the legendary eggs, just maybe Chef Stephan could be persuaded. Being away from the busy esplanade means Chef Stephan can provide personal service with exceptional attention to detail. It’s special and Mooloolaba’s best kept secret.
