I went to a family dinner here last Friday. We ordered one dish per person plus rice. I initially thought that the meals were small however but the end of the meal there was nothing left but everyone was full. Their sizing was perfect. The highlights for me were the char-grilled Thai BBQ chicken & the Thai roast duck. An unassuming shop front but well worth a visit.
After reading so many great reviews we decided to give Modern Thai a go a few months ago. I ordered a stir fry ,beef with veges. The sauce was way too heavy for such a meal. The meat was not as tender as it should have been for a restaurant which seems to enjoy such favourable reviews. There was a heavy after taste in my mouth after consuming this meal. My wife’s meal was better but still she was disappointed as well. All in all not an enjoyable experience. Service was quite good though. Wouldn’t go back and on the basis of our experience would not recommend.
After reading the reviews we tried this restaurant for a takeaway birthday meal on the 5th of January, it was very disappointing and most unlike the reviews. We ordered a massaman curry which is normally a slow cooked with chunks of beef and potato but ours was like meat slivers in a watery sauce with big chunks of potato, the curry was ok but the meat was unpleasant. The yellow curry with prawns also a disappointment with just a few prawns swimming in yellow curry sauce with potato and no other vegetable, never been served potato in a yellow curry before. The chicken was fine we enjoyed that and the curry puffs and spring rolls were ok but the main 2 curries were very below average, Maybe this was because of the holiday break I don’t know as a birthday treat maybe eating in is better than the takeaway from this restaurant,
