Return for second visit just in one month. We have a mini-birthday party in a group of seven. Six of us took the advantage of mid-week offer of a short sample of tasting menu for $55 and added additional cheese plate for $9.00 Honestly, it was quite a busy night that was nearly full house. Our first dish of Oxheart Tomato came to the table very quick, which kick-started our appetite. Next dish of well presented Hiramasa Kingfish earned the whole group’s appreciation in terms of its refreshing taste and well balanced ingredients. The main of Lamb Belly really took quite a long time to get them presented on the table, which led to the deterioration of our mood so the effect just average (what a shame). Then we were advised to have the cheese plate first to go for the wine, which is a good idea and indeed we loved the balanced flavour the brick with the ginger ice-cream despite the fact that it took quite a long time to have the cheese plate again. The final dessert again was ruined because the whole group was tired of waiting for the dishes and our mood does not support the appreciation. Personally, I think chef can think about to have something else added on this dessert instead of varieties form of chocolate. Overall, this time is a little bit disappointed because it took us 3 hours to have only five dishes for the night; however the CP ratio is good and taste of dishes keeps consistent. One month ago Rating 5/5Located at the previous spot of the Foraging Quail , this local gem really deserves the glory as being one of the 50 hot spots in Brisbane. Had dinner here after returned from Hong Kong. Walked in and was greeted by the friendly owner wait-staff. Due to the fact that I was suffered from minor stomachache so we chose to have a la cart instead of the intended six courses tasting menu. Ordered just two entrees and two mains and one side dish. First came to the table were the Hiramasa Kingfish with cucumber & green apple and the Seared Scallop with caramelised cauliflower. Kingfish dish is very refreshing, particularly with the green apple sorbet that stimulates my palate and kick-starts my appetite. Scallop dish delivers a very rich flavour and reflects high quality structure. When it is mixed with the caramelised cauliflower, texture and taste are well balanced. The two mains do not let us down. Hapuka fillet is perfectly prepared as well as the accompanied squids and the salsa – they are perfect combination. Flinders Island Lamb racks reserve its rich original flavour and the chefs culinary skill really brings the dish to a professional level. Oh! I nearly forget about the side dish of cabbage, which is so sweet and brings us a marvellous taste when it is mixed with XO sauce. Overall, We can see the passion from the team and thanks for such unforgettable dining experience. It is another restaurant that makes me proud of living in Brisbane.
