What was great now terrible with nasty bar staff
A wonderful little bar with great cocktails, tapas style food and service. Good atmosphere in the heart of New Farm.
I’ll be back!!!. I attended a function tonight and all I can say is this place is amazing. I had read reviews on this place, some of which really put you off going there. But after tonight I have to say this I will be back. The food was fantastic platters were supplied all with a variety to suit everyone’s appetite, finally a place that serves flavoursome food. Not sure if the chefs own the place but they are both an asset to the business, very friendly and accommodating. If your thinking of having a function for any event I highly recommend Gertie’s as the place to have it!!
The new OWNER is destroying this wonderfull Bar. I went to Gertie’s on a Friday in September with a few friends it was amazing great service, excellent atmosphere with Latin salsa music, we tried the antipasto, calamari, chicken wing , all was delicious , the cocktails were amazing , the staff were very friendly they were sure we were enjoying the nightI went back again on a Saturday and it was very different the music was not that great and I and my friend did not feel comfortable in the table on the right and on the left were two couples of lesbian kissing and touching i went to the bar and another couple kissing in the front nothing wrong with that but this is a public place and everything has a place ,we did not need to see that we just left wonder was what that about in that bar I came back on a Sunday with my boyfriend because i really like the first time I was there , VERY DISAPPOINTED not god service at all , the background music has the vibe just for lesbians and people around 50 years old,music from the 70s we are in 2013 now . we could not stay for long ,I guess the new owner of this place want just certain people we young and respect people but we did not feel welcome to this bar anymore ,to sad I really loved it the first time we came we wonder what happen ,we hope somebody else take over this bar, great location to ruin it
Amazing Bar in New Farm We …. Amazing Bar in New FarmWe went there in September my friends came for the Brisbane Festival and wanted to go for a drink on a Friday many great places around ,but this place has the best music ,they were playing Spanish music it was great no many bars play this amazing music it was Friday so we had many cocktails , Drink were very good , the food was good too , the staff were friendly and made us feel great that day , when any friends come to visit I will take them to Gertie’s at least Friday , I don’t know how is other days , I’m happy we have places like this in Brisbane with amazing atmosphere .
Sunday Disappointment. Gerties has alot of history and unfortunately, was a complete let down for us. Went for dinner on a sunday night, and the best things i can say about this place is that the service was friendly and polite and attentive and the music and decor is quirky funky and interesting. Food was a complete disappointment, had 3 items from the tapas menu – arancini was gluggy and flavorless, buffalo mozzarella with panchetta was literally inedible and the meatballs were just meatballs. Wine list is pretty boutique and interesting. Definitely wont be back for food, but will possibly comeback to sample some of the wines.
Terrible atmosphere – it would be fantastic if they would fix the background music. Mariah Carey from the late 90’s whilst dining is a killjoy.
