Worst Reuben sandwich ever, we were having a service done on our bike thought we would grab a quick bite up the road. We are an older couple 50 ish and felt like we were not welcome. Chicken sandwich and Reuben all bread very little filling with no taste and served with a bad attitude give it a miss (not bad coffee but doesn’t make up for the attitude.)
I had a delicious today duck toastie here and coffee was pretty good too. Decor is industrial, with wide open space, order at the counter service. Service would’ve been nice with a smile, but it wasn’t bad. They also do cooking classes here- would love to try a class. It was a real pain trying to find parking, they do have 3 spots in front of the store, street parking is hard to come by, I think it might be a lot easier on the weekend when people working in the area aren’t around. I’d come back, but probably on a weekend.
Casual Dinner – Serious Diner reviews. In response to your review, we have never had a Nose To tail Pig Day at the Golden Pig or any other sort of class involving Pig butchery. I think you have the wrong cooking school. We are holding our very first Nose to tail Pig day on Sunday June 21st, 2015. It will be an intensive hands- on, 6 hour class of butchering a whole pig and cooking up a feast using different cuts including, braised cheeks, rolled and stuffed loin, crispy fried tail & ears, stuffed trotters, sausages and curing a ham. Perhaps you should come along to our class!
Over rated over priced under delivered. My whole family did the Pig nose to tail. It’s description was how too butcher a fresh pig Then cook in different ways. The butchering was done by a chef & lasted all of 5 mins with very little participation or explanation as pig was small & too fresh! The cooking was mostly done in advance with most of us only doing a little finishing touches. And to top it off there was not enough cooking stations for everyone to do cooking… Some people left after the cutting of the meat as it was squashed & we were sitting on hard steel chairs that looked like old wheels. Certainly not worth the $480 we paid for 4 people.. Not doing this cooking school again. Many much better ones around.P.S They gave us warm water & we had to pay for soft drink but beer was free……
It’s the best of Melbourne food culture in the sub-tropics. A hidden gem for lunch and breakfast. A Sophisticated yet relaxed and spacious tropical venue. The food is always amazingly fresh and beautifully presented with delicious flavours. Gourmet is a word too often used, yet here it lives up to its dictionary definition. A memorable food experience that delivers quality food at affordable prices. Love this place!
My go to destination. I can’t believe I walked past this place for so long. I thought it was a school only, not a functioning cafe. It is now my go to destination for lunch. I take clients here for casual meetings and coffees. The prices are slightly higher than the other very near cafes but the variety, atmosphere, food and drinks are far superior. They also have a fridge full of boutique beers if you need a cold one to deal with the rest of your day. The light, airy atmosphere, plants and constant , quiet buzz of busy staff and students always makes it a positive atmosphere. I am looking to attend some of their classes or events in future.
Cooking School Was Fantastic. Hi,My Wife and I attended a cooking school together – the food was amazing and the experience cooking it was fantastic. Classes are run by dividing the whole group into smaller groups of 4, meaning we were put with another couple. Our experience was impacted by the couple we were paired with as they were regulars, and we open about their unwillingness to work in a team at all. We were still able to learn a lot, have a great experience and enjoy some amazing food, but the group dynamic is something that you should be aware of before going. Highly recommended place to go for a great night out with a difference.
