We’ve done quite a few cooking classes in our time. If a majority of those classes were taught in a similar fashion to advanced home-ec then by comparison, the Golden Pig takes a university style approach. Most cooking classes we’ve taken run you through recipes as a group before starting. Instead here they tackle each dish in separate groups and you simply get stuck in to the mis en place and techniques by yourself – asking your teacher for advice when needed. Unsure if this is the case with all their classes, but this was the case with their French Bistro 2 class last year. Both positive and negatives can be taken away from such an approach, but as they say – the proof is in the pudding, and all of our proverbial pudding was delicious. We picked up some handy tips and tricks that we still use to this day and would recommend the Golden Pig to any true foodies wanting to learn some advanced cooking skills…however, it might not be as enjoyable for complete rookies.
