Saturday night and the place was packed. We got a table fairly quickly and our waitress and waiter were friendly. Whilst looking at the dessert cabinet the matre de was extremely friendly and helpful. The Moroccan lamb was okay but a little strong in flavour. The Crispy southern style chicken burger was amazing. The chicken was crunchy and beautifully flavoured with a lovely sauce. The chips were ordered with a side of aoli but the chips were cold The chicken risotto was average. We all had thick shakes which were good but the lime and strawberry may have had a bit too much syrup. There was a singer in the court yard outside the restaurant which was nice.
After being seated by a waitress that looked extremely unimpressed to be doing her job we ordered almost straight away and waited a ridiculous amount of time for our meal while it wasn’t busy. Our Salmon stack arrived…..with 3 tiny pieces of salmon smaller then a 50 Cent Piece. I approached the waitress to explain the issue and I was told to go sit down and wait for her. I sat and waited and when she arrived I explained I would be happy to eat the meal but wanted them to receive my negative feedback on our meals. She offered to take the meal and remake it however i declined again as I didn’t want to wait any longer. After declining the waitress took my plate anyway and left…..She come back a few mins later with no plate asking what I wanted??? Like Really!I advised we would be leaving and I’m happy to pay for the coffee i had consumed but that’s it. I was told to meet her at the counter when surprise she disappeared again! With no communication with what was going on after waiting we begin to leave. The manager approached us with the intention to make a scene to onlookers that we were leaving without paying. He was out to embarrass us even though I relayed back to him 3 times I was happy to pay for the coffee! I paid and conveyed I would be sending a complaint regarding the issues, he slammed the cash register and we left. I have sent emails via their website only to find I was discussing these issues over multiple emails to the same manager from the day and he was talking in third person pretending to investigate the issues!I will never go to another Groove Train Again!
Had dinner there last night with the kids and we were all very disappointed. The spaghetti bolognese was a bowl of mush that tasted like it come out of a tin. The calamari was just ok (tender but no real taste) however the chips where half cooked – raw and soft. Now the wood fired pizza also tasted like store bought frozen pizza. The only positive thing was the friendly waitress. Just threw $55 dollars down the drain. Will not be back.
