Dined on a Monday night and had the place virtually to ourselves. The mains are a little on the spendy side but the quality justifies the price. The five spiced duck was cooked beautifully and my wife had the venison which was devine.Being dairy intolerant deserts are always difficult, however the chef was more than happy to whip up a meringue and fruit alternative which I gobbled!Naturally being the only ones there the service was very attentive!
The old church has been transformed into a stylish restaurant and delightful function centre that serves for weddings and other celebrations. The menu focuses on classic pork, beef, fish and veal dishes as well as pasta and vegetarian options with a French/Italian influence. The slow cooked pork belly was melt in the mouth texture with superb accompaniments of white beans and haloumi. Venison medallions were tender and included celeriac puree with a delicious reduction mushroom star anise flavoured jus. Crisp vegetables were provided to share. An alternative is to try two entrees as all meals come in two serving sizes. For sheer indulgence, a degustation menu proves a taste of 6 dishes for $85 with optional matching wines for additional cost. The extensive wine list has local wines competitively priced with Australian and imported offerings at not unaffordable prices, although this is a fine dining style establishment so expect higher end pricing. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive to needs and a cosy fire adds to the ambiance on cooler winter nights. All in all a worthwhile visit for that special occasion.
Degustation menu – an amazing food experience. We went to the Old Church restaurant on the advice of our accommodation owners and decided on the spur of the moment to treat ourselves to our first degustation menu. Food choices are left entirely up to the Chef although you can say if you have any particular dislikes eg offal in our case. We chose a four course menu with my friend also adding the matching wines and every dish was absolutely superb. For two fairly small women the serve sizes were spot on with reasonable gaps between the serves and a longer gap between the third course and dessert, which was just perfect to have a wander around and let the previous courses digest. It was a culinary adventure and we would recommend this restaurant and particularly the degustation menu to anyone. Fabulous!!
Best beef I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly roasted vegetables and meat cooked to perfection in wine sauce, 5 stars!
Unbelievably good food!. We had the beef and Gnocchi, and sticky date pudding for dessert, everything was incredible, as good as any food we have ever eaten, portion sizes and pricing were fantastic as well
