Went here for lunch with a friend. Nice simple cafe with cute ‘find all the lego men’ game for while we were waiting. I didn’t find the menu that extensive but it was well priced. As far as cafe food goes it tasted average to me. Staff were friendly and attentive. The aioli with my side of sweet potato wedges lacked in flavour but the wedges were good. I ordered the mushies and to me it just needed more balsamic glaze but that’s just preference.

Very good service today 4/9/15 and a fine coffee, excellent banana smoothie and chicken burger. Well worth a visit after a morning exercise session. Well done.
Definetly one of the top breakfast/lunch spots in toowoomba. The avo on toast is amazing, as is the lamb salad. When my mum flys in to visit me this is the first placeshe request as she says its the best french toast shes ever had! (and can i add its definetly the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen). Only wish they did all day brekkie and life would be complete!
Good but service needs some refining. Coffee was really good, food was better than average but service was hit and miss. The table we were shown to was dirty and we had to ask for it to be wiped down, our coffee order was taken promptly but they forgot to come back to take our food order and our two orders for coffee took a long time. – and I mean a LONG time. The staff were pleasant and helpful but the service was so disjointed it left you with the feeling that the cafe is new when it’s not. Despite the service hiccups we’ll be going back for the awesome coffee and great food.16 Feb, 2015Good but room for improvement. My husband and I discovered Ortem yesterday and I’m glad we did. The coffee was really good (I’m very fussy when it comes to coffee. I don’t drink it regularly so when I treat myself it really has to be worthy and at Ortem I had two cups) and the food was definitely worth going back for. I ordered the mushrooms and hubby had the big breakfast. When the meals were served my eyes were drawn straight to hubby’s plate…that potato rosti (hash?) looked amazing and tasted pretty damn good too! Although maybe a bit mushy in the middle I focussed on the crispy outside and general flavour…yum! While I enjoyed my mushrooms they didn’t wow me and next time I’ll try something different. For us the biggest letdown was the service. The table we were directed too was quite dirty and we had to ask for it to be wiped down. Whilst our drinks order was taken promptly, they forgot to come back and take our food order leaving us having to ask for service, and both orders of coffee took a long time – and I mean a LONG time. Don’t get me wrong, the staff were pleasant and helpful but the hit and miss service gave the disjointed vibe of the cafe being new when it isn’t. Despite the service hiccups we really do recommend Ortem. So far it’s the best cafe we Brisbanites have found in Toowoomba and we will be back.
Lovely spot for a Sunday Breakkie! Staff are friendly, coffee is good, and the food was great. Highly recommend the Hash Cakes & Smokey Beans
Great coffee. Fast and efficient service and a solid menu.Slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Great vibe and did I mention great coffee.
