We visited on a busy Saturday night for the first sitting & the staff were great at keeping us updated when there was a delay in the kitchen. Gyoza is a must & goes well with a new Pinot Grigio only just on the menu. Can’t go past the $12 x 500 ml Sapiro either

Had the Gyo bento box which includes 6 small sashimi pieces, teriyaki chicken with rice (nice & juicy), mix of vegetable & prawn tempura (disappointing – soft & limp) & steamed /blanched veg drizzled with a tangy sauce & miso soup (a must have – one of the best miso soups I’ve had!!

Delicious. Friendly staff. Authentic food. An unexpected find in Townsville.

Money wasted. My wife and I went to GYO on Friday the 10th day of April 2015 for lunch. There were only two good things about it: The chair was very comfortable and the air-con was very effective. It all went downhill from there. The service was not up to standard. Once the food was served, no one came back to check on the table. I finished my drink and no one asked if I wanted another one. My wife and I finished our water and we were not provided another bottle for the entire time it took us to have our meal.I ordered the seafood sizzling platter which I knew was going to be a disappointment as soon as it hit the table. The platter was not hot enough and the dish was not sizzling at all. Because the plate was not sufficiently hot, the water from the thawed seafood accumulated at the bottom and made the dish look like as horribly cooked soup. I knew there was something wrong when I realised that the best part of a seafood dish was the small pieces of broccoli. The rice was ok but what upset me the most was the side dish of the day. I was expecting something interest but what I got from an overpriced Japanese restaurant was a spoonful of store bought mayonnaise. I could not believe my eyes when that dish hit the table. I have already advised my family and friends that if I ever go back to GYO they should force me into a psychiatric hospital as mentally ill I have become.

Gyo dinner. Tasty, well cooked & presented food for reasonable prices. service was a bit average but passable. the only thing i didnt like was that the tv was playing in the background ruining the atmosphere. I would still eat there again but maybe sit out side or only go for lunch
