I was treated to a chocolate mousse truffle cake for my birthday weekend and it was devine! Beautifully layered flavours of chocolate without being dense. It’s rich and light at the same time. My new favorite cake.
There’s a few Swiss Bakeries on the coast (Nambour, Burnside, Pacific Paradise, North Buderim) and they are much better than the typical Aussie bakery. Generally more expensive goods but better quality. Their pie selection is very broad and they have plenty of filling and quality meat, but their vegetarian options aren’t so good.

Swiss Bakery – Maroochydore, Brisbane. It is basically the local bakery of the Maroochydore area, but it proves to be constantly popular with the locals and with good reason. Often my parents talk about it and getting bread from it, and through luck I managed to try and see why it was so. In the shopping district, it is located amongst the supermarket, pub and some Italian eateries and is one of those unsuspecting finds. They do more than just bread really well; their pies and sweets are of great quality and flavoursome. One morning I found myself up at my parent’s place in the Sunshine Coast along with my big sister, her husband and baby in tow. There was not a lot in the house to accommodate the number of people for breakfast ergo one morning a couple of them snuck out to here to get some items for breakfast (I was sleeping at the time). It proved that bakeries can be great for sharing a lot of food for not much money. There were a number of items bought. I got to try a steak and pumpkin pie: this was really, really good with big chunks of both said items in the middle with a sprinkling of toasted pumpkin seeds on top. It was good quality and had truth in its name. There was also an apple turnover and an escargot: really good quality with distinguishable ingredients and not too much artificial sweetness so it felt good eating them. The flavourings were delicious and distinct, winning everybody over. The local bakery is often a good fallback; sometimes – such as this instance – it is actually quite impressive.
Great local bakery. I love this bakery! The traditional artisan breads, the pastries and divine cakes. I recommend the Sourdough Rye bread & the pepper steak pie.
