Cino the loyal scapecat wanted fish & chips. Good boy. His faithful minions duly fetched some takeaway.A main size serve of five scallops included our choice of salad, chips, sauce & lemon. The old school thick batter didnt transport well but the fat, juicy scallops inside were still good. Cino demolished the roe from mine. Hot chips were a lucky dip between both soggy & crispy. Enjoyed the damn fine lemon pepper calamari – thinly coated & very tender. Meanwhile thai fish cakes were more like flat fritters. They had solid chilli flavour but the crumbly texture was so-so. A mixed bag overall. Appreciate the inclusion of decent sized sauces – roasted garlic aioli, tartare & nuoc cham. Also props for cheery service & cute faux newspaper lined boxes.End result was a sated feline. And by feline I mean my belly. And Husbandios.
Have been coming here for a long time, it’s(or was) our family meet up place. Went there last night and the meals were uneatable. Cold chips, batter that doesn’t stick to the fish and tiny serves. So disappointed! Last time we went was great!Have to find a new place 🙁
We went to Fish Lovers for lunch last Friday and found the food very nice. I ordered the beer battered soft shell crab w chips and tartare, the batter was super crispy and the crab soft and tender. The chips were also awesome. Will definitely be back.
If you are looking for a great dining experience then you can’t not try ‘Fish lovers’ great place, great staff an all round awesome experience
Love this place! Fresh tasty fish & burgers, staff are always friendly. Its one of only a few places that our son will sit still & eat all his food.
Worst fish ever. Have lived in Paddington / Rosalie area on and off for last 10 years. Always went to Rainworth seafoods normally but due to Xmas break thought we’d try Fish Lovers. Ordered 2 x grilled fish, calamari and medium chips. Got home and a) calamari was missing and b) fish was unfortunately the driest most awful piece of crap ever encountered. Maybe the trick is to eat there but we certainly won’t get take away from there again.
Consistently Awful. Superlatively bad and overpriced. Save your pennies.
