Husbandio was actually in the convenience store next door when the wafting aroma from Pasteio hit. Unable to resist, he went full hunter-gatherer & discovered individual pasta portions, accompanying sauces & garnishes plus gorgeous dolcetti. A complete spread for when youre busy, lazy or equal parts of both – aint gonna judge.Items vary depending on whats fresh & the chefs whim & charming staff will knowledgeably guide you through the mix & match selections & share their passion. We eagerly opted for tagliatelle & fettuccine partnered with truffle butter & pork cheek ragu. That pasta. Silky ribbons of amazing. Cant stress how good & fresh it was. Made us realise as often as we make our own pasta we have lots to learn. And the overall yield was plenty, in fact far more than expected…although our greedy guts would have risked rupture for one more bite.Mammas homemade lemon curd was a masterclass in desserts. Beautifully on the zesty side allowing the subtle sweetness to come through from the meringue. With baked meringue shards on top & a dreamy biscuit base its *hand on heart* Husbandios fav ever lemon meringue (and hes had his fair share).Biggest problem here is Pasteio is on the way home so we might happen to drop in a lot. But happy to support local business so its a win-win. Ciao for now.
The situation of this new specialty bakery has replaced my old favourite The Welsh Lady. The new owners are equally as passionate as the former. They went out of their way to attempt to recreate a version of my favourite dessert cake Death by Chocolate. The result was very different but non the less absolutely delicious. A bottom layer of dense chocolate cake topped with rich mousse & added chocolate shards for crunch. Beautiful delivery from a master baker thank you
