Lots of different seating options as well as a few good things to choose from the menu. I enjoyed the battered zucchini flowers but wold have preferred some pepper or spices within the pumpkin purée. My husband’s burger was good and came w plenty of fries.
Luckily, we found Avvia right around the corner from our AirBnB on the weekend in Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. Avvia has a beautiful little courtyard, with herbs growing right around the fence. They have a wonderful philosophy (check it out below) which makes it all the sweeter!. I ordered a juice, the immune booster with orange, pineapple, ginger and lemon in an attempt to feel more human. But what really piqued my interest was the eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce is made fresh daily with clarified butter, champagne vinegar (yeah, you read that right) and egg yolks. Being a champagne fiend, it was the obvious choice for me.
Gorgeous. You couldn’t ask for a better location, which along with the cafe’s inviting interior and courtyard makes for a very pleasant dining experience.I chose the ‘Green Goddess’ bowl and washed it down with a juice. My breakfast was a decent size containing pumpkin, halloumi and quinoa among the nourishing greens.
Three of us just had lunch at Avvia, a few days ago. We all had different meals. Our main complaint is that each of the main meals was definitely only entree size. For the prices charged, its ridiculous. The pulled lamb had about a desert spoon of lamb in it. I had Prawns – $18. My friends meals were $26 each. Mine came with THREE prawns, some cold sauce and a small piece of very thin bread. That’s it! By the time the heads were taken off the prawns, there was little left. If we hadn’t ordered the extra side order of french fries, we’d have left there really hungry. I had taken two friends there for a birthday treat. What a fiasco that turned out to be. That is certainly the last time for me. Not sure how they have survived. Luckily I live in Palm Beach and so can warn friends of what to expect.
Lunch here in late May 2017. Nice ambience and staff are friendly, shame it’s let down by the food.  When one of us got greasy, soggy chips cooked in old oil, the chef said that the limp chips were ‘how they made their chips here’. Two of us got the veggie burgers with halloumi  but the halloumi had been grated and put into the burger pattie – this made the patty the consistency of soup held together by the crispy skin formed on it whilst cooking. Not very pleasant to eat on a burger.  All of our meals were cooked with oil that had been used too long. I can’t imagine ever going back but I do hope they sort out their food as it is a nice little spot near the beach.
