If this place had a favourite J-Lo song, it would certainly be ‘I’m Real’. Unique without the wankiness; honest without being scrappy. It’s a bakery-cum-cafe that feels instantly homely, and the bites being served up mirror that vibe. It was 10am, but I was hungover, so I ordered a banh mi. What? WHAT? I do what I want. Bread was superfly fresh, but the roll needed to be stuffed with more filling, especially of the meat variety. Big dog gotta eat and all that. Same deal with my pepper steak pie. Probably too much emphasis on the pastry, not enough on the pud. The bro was moaning a fair bit when he ate his bacon and egg roll, so I’m taking that as a positive. I’d also like to clarify – this review is a 3.5. Zomato, sort ya shiz out. Ditching the half marks is lame for all concerned.

We came back the next day and were able to get some things at 12pm but by the time I went to order dessert the savory items were sold out again! Lovely meat from upstairs Lester and Earl. I could taste the butter in the pastry. Gorgeous interior. Friendly service. Sparkling water on tap!
