Struck Portofino (then Portobello) off my Palm Cove list a few years ago. Found it very ordinary. Went back to give the revamped version (those daybeds are really nice by the way) and sadly its still no good. The food was bland and uninspiring. All three pastas lacked flavour. The squid ink pasta lacked bite and the prawn pasta was very short on flavour. The pizza was just ok, very light on the amount of lamb. The service was very good, however. Its a shame- beautiful setting, really solid menu, but the food quality really lets it down. There are so many better options for meals in Palm Cove.
An ideally positioned bustling restaurant with a great view of the ocean and beachfront. It was very busy but the staff were attentive and helpful. We offered the bolognaise pizza which was pronounced delicious. Also the two fish dishes the special grilled salmon with squid ink risotto and pumpkin pure. The salmon was a perfectly cooked generous serve. I ordered the whole deep fried barramundi. Also generous and delicious. An enjoyable experience altogether.
