Bayleaf is tucked away from the bustle of Cairns City. The ambience is quite enjoyable with dim lighting and traditional Balinese inspired decor. However, the positive experience ends there. The service was VERY DISAPPOINTING… the restaurant was about a quarter full when I arrived and I still had to get the attention of the waiter for a table. The worst thing was, several of the waitresses even walked past dismissively. NOT IMPRESSED. I ordered the mixed Sate skewers, poached chicken salad and duck curry. The Sate sauce was the highlight. It was rich in flavour and really delicious. All the other dishes really lacked flavour and were quite expensive! I am new to the Balinese cuisine so based on this experience alone, it hasnt left the best impression.
