Smashing! Fresh food, unbelievable service
Simply put: the service and food is not worth the price you pay to eat there. Either drop the cost per dish or up the ante. There is better value on the deck of ‘the pier’.
Went for luch, meal was hide with good service but they had no prawns!! How a seafood restaurant can operate without prawns i cannot understand! Staff did offer to substitute prawns with something of our choice
Great lunch deals. Pleasant location. Enjoyed good value lunch menu – Barramundi and salad $9.95 , moroccan lamb , calamari , steak around $16-$18 . Good service . Highly recommended.
Seafood with a view. Overlooking the marina, Pesci’s is a longstanding Cairns restaurant. It’s priced mainly for tourists who want fresh seafood with a view and are willing to pay the price. We shared a seafood platter for one for lunch. Most of the food (mussels excepted) was very fresh, service was pleasant and helpful, price a bit steep. It’s a real shame that the marina precinct, once a market hub and hive of activity, has withered due to new developments elsewhere. foodgoldcoast.com.au
It took a very long time to get our meals, however it was worth the wait. The miso marinated salmon was outstanding, the beef liver was plaisant and the barramundi was excellent. Still on the expensive side for Cairns.
Food dated, need a revamp, service shambolic. We went to Pesci’s for a special night out on our last night in Cairns. We called and booked. Ok it was Easter Sunday so perhaps the usual staff were not working that night…but the service was quite shambolic. We booked but got a table inside the stuffy restaurant instead of out on the deck. We were moved out there after ten minutes. I asked for some water to drink but were told, no we were about to be moved outside, so no drinks – which I thought was a bit rough.Outside was much more airy than inside and quite pleasant. We had to wave our hands up in the air repeatedly and still did not get any attention from the waitstaff. One young guy eventually came over and fumbled around, dropped his bit of paper and then wrote down the wrong order for my partner. It was quite confusing as there was ‘Barramundi’ and another barramundi dish which was just fish and chips really. He wanted the dish ‘Barramundi’ but got barramundi in fish and chips. I ordered a Flavours of North Queensland ($45) which was crocodile in curried sauce, a red emperor fish piece, a piece of barramundi and a steak on some mash, served with tropical fruit. It sounded promising but was quite a bizarre dish, which smacked of the 1980s – quite daggy as it turned out. It even came with a pink rose! Bizarre. Everything was on one plate which meant the fish’s butter sauce was running through everything, overwhelming the crocodile and running into the mash and steak. The butter sauce was too rich and other than fatty, was not flavoursome. The fish was ok. The fruit was just plain silly. I think a better idea would be to serve the dishes in individual platters to respect the produce better. Have some good bread or thick cut chips and salad greens or vegetables on the side. Lose the fruit! I think the whole menu could do with a revamp. Very unexciting. Get some advice as to how to present the same kind of produce but with new dishes.
