Had lunch there the other day. Meat ball and lam stew came with very small serve, far not enough. Beef enchiladas was good. Overall, it a place with noting to highlight, the food was not better than a Mexican Fast food chain store. Decoration was good, ok dining environment. Will go somewhere else if go dining around that area.
A waitress approached us with her smile and friendliness while we were looking at the menu. We didnt to give it a try, and we were quite impressed with the service. A jug of lychee margaritas refreshed us. it got a wonderful citrus sourness at the start which was nicely balanced with the sharp saltiness on the rim, then the smokey flavour of the tequila started to take over. Our food, pork ribs and chicken quesadilla, arrived but they didnt wow us. The quesadilla was average and not good valued -not much filling. The rib was below average; it lacked moisture and hearty flavour. The sauce should have absorbed into the slow cooked meat and been thicken. Its such a shame that the chef didnt do a good job while the floor staff and the bartender did.
The waitress was really nice but the food was dreadful. We paid around $25 each for a (very, very small) glass of wine and a burrito and the burritos were like mush. Bland, flavourless, needed salt, spice and texture. Disappointing because the wait staff were really kind and the decor suggested it would be an OK place. Food was just really sub-par.
Went here Saturday early evening at approx 4pm. At this time, there were few other customers. Could do with a happy hour(?) Standard Mexican menu. We got the taco platter, which allowed 3x pairs of tacos of our choice. We had the vegetarian, fish and chicken. The fish was yum, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Service was friendly and helpful.
Four of us tried several menu items which all looked and tasted equally bland and were visually unappealing. Possibly the worst Mexican experience we have had.Staff however tried to be helpful.Never again!
Had a lovely lunch today at Los Villanos with work colleagues. Tucked down the laneway at The Barracks, the venue is a nice way to escape the foot traffic and heat. Our waiter was very attentive and keen to make suggestions, he even offered to order for us! Half our group put their faith in his hands and ended up with a tostada platter, a quesadilla and some lovely corn. I had a chicken quesadilla which was good but a bit dry. There was hot sauce on the table which received positive reviews by the chilli aficionados amongst us. We were done and dusted in about half an hour, quite satisfied with ourselves.
Great little joint close located in The Barracks. He snuck in for a cheeky feed just before a movie at The Palace Cinemas. The staff were lovely and approachable and the menu had good variety and options. If your in a larger crowd I would consider the platters but for just two people on a Monday night the beef nachos and tacos hit the spot. Don’t walk past the Classico Margherita, it’s just delish! Also look out for cheap tacos on Tuesday!!!
