Recently ate at Celsius when I was in Townsville for work. The menu is surprisingly comprehensive with a decent wine list too. I went for the Pork Cutlet with Chimichurri butter, although I ended up enjoying the Pepper sauce far more. It was definitely tasty and a huge portion but nothing too memorable. The breakfast here was also decent, although nothing too special – your standard buffet style. Would eat here again if staying at the Mercure.
Went out on a Valentine’s day 2015, was told restaurant was booked out. I had the 3 course meal and my wife the 2 course (preset menu). My first course came out promptly, then service went down hill from there. I understand they were busy, they knew they were booked out why not have more staff on. Both mains were low quality for price. Made our first enquiry into the whereabouts of our desserts, didn’t get a reply waited 15mins asked again an was told they where on there way, waited another 15 mins, by this time our drinks had been finished for 30 mins and our mains plates still sitting on our table for over 45mins, no one approached to make any enquiry or take plates away. Got up to pay (still no dessert) waited for 10mins to pay, desserts still didn’t come in that time. Hostess ask how it went, told her not very good was still waiting on desserts, she couldn’t find our bill, she called over manager, she explained to him that we still hadn’t got our desserts and we received bad service, he replied ‘oh’ and proceeded to ask me what I had eaten to charge me, and had an attitude that I had troubled him by eating at his restaurant and dared to actually have to tell him what I had to eat, Very poor service, low quality food, manager very arrogant.
Dinner was horrible! I had fillet steak and was chewy, tasteless and possibly the worst steak I have ever eaten. I ate out for breakfast to avoid another disappointment.
Dinner started at 6 and we arrived early for drinks. Ordered at 6pm on the dot and were the first to order and the first to be disappointed. Vegetables were served cold and even on return they were unevenly heated. Dissapointed. We had the French cuisine. But mash that was unacceptable in texture and flavour and meat, well we spent the first 5 minutes gathering the loose bones in our meal to the side of the plate. Dessert – Orange crepes took a millennium to come out and when the did they were really not worth the wait and constant follow up with waiter. Ice cream melted. Crepe folded and under cooked and stuck together. Should have just of ordered another antipasto platterNd just enjoyed the evening.20 Dec, 2013Buffet breakfast – ordinary buffet with many options. Bacon and eggs cooked well. Eggs were hardly scrambled. Good value for money.
Very average buffet breakfast.06 May, 2013Bad service, due to loitering waiter and not being told kitchen was closing for desserts. Better than average food, but I expected nicer.
