As it was my first time in Australia less than a year ago, I fell in love with Townsville. We were exhausted from several plane trips, hungry and didn’t have much sleep. My husband brought me here and we ordered fried calamari and fish and chips. It was pretty crowded and a lot of families with their kids were hanging out. Nothing here is cheap but the serving was quite big for the price we paid and the view was great.
nothing really special with the prawns i ordered except the serving size which was huge – 18 big prawns. the chowder was nice, thick and creamy.
Not sure where to start.. the staff where extreamly innatentative and avoided eye contact on every attempt we made to order. We ordered kids fish and chips, 12 fresh oysters and a serving of chips with two drinks. The kids meal came out first and the fish was so dry you could see the fish seperating from itself. 20 minuites later came the oysters.. you could smell they were spoilt when they hit the table and they had started to change colour. when we complained they simply offered to take them off the bill. 15 minuites later the chips arrived.. luke warm. There was no appology for the oysters and no offer for complimentary drinks as is standard in this situation. Im still confused how oysters in that condition managed to make it past all of the kitchen staff and then the floor staff to our table.. When i mentioned something at the counter when we payed we were met with a waitress that clearly couldnt care less. What a waste of time and money.. Would not recomend
Very average fare by the man made pool along the Strand. We had a range of dishes including the salt and pepper squid and the bucket of king prawns. The bucket was said to be half a kilo but looked less and contained really tiny prawns. Chips were lukewarm. Very disappointing. Capable young staff, some of which were being yelled at by a senior member.
Waited 45mins for our entree and then another 50mins for mains. When our mains came out they were missing chips off one main and salad off the other. Steak was over cooked and meals were below standard. The waiter came to ask if everything is ok? We told them everything. The manager comes to speak to us in a very rude manner and tells us that we were wrong and that he does not want to do business with bad people and then kicked us out.
Best views out to Magnetic Island, no fuss grab your own menu on the way in, a table, order at the register & away you go. Nice icy cold glasses for the beer & a selection of Barra, flake as the house fish & mackerel plus burgers, salads, callamari & the list goes on
