What a very pleasant surprise!! Our family of 4 adults and 2 children visited this restaurant on a Saturday morning. In recent years we had heard a variety of comments about it – both positive and negative. We have previously operated a motel and restaurant providing breakfast and dinner service. The first thing we were advised was that children eat free with a corresponding paying adult. We were attended by very friendly, courteous wait staff who were very helpful. The coffee selection was impressive and the coffee was very, very good. The breakfast menu was interesting and provided some very tempting dishes, prices were right. Our meals were delivered in a very timely manner. The presentation of the meals was excellent, visually tempting our tastebuds and the portions were very generous. The adults all had a different meal and all agreed the taste experience to be much more than satisfactory. The view over the rockpool, Cleveland Bay and Magnetic Island with the cooling sea breeze contributed to the relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant to create a wonderful ambience and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We can’t wait to be there again, we have found our new Saturday morning breakfast place!
I think either people have been a bit melodramatic in their reviews of this place or some changes have occured since the reviews were made. I just came back to Townsville from melbourne & get a bit ruthless with places here pretending to be what they aren’t, but this isn’t one of those -it’s simply a bistro/bar style restaurant with a really nice outlook & friendly staff. I’ve been twice in the last week & while the food is standard pub fare it was a pleasant experience both times.Prices are no different to most decent pubs & taverns on the coast and I found the staff to be bubbly & eager to help on both occasions with fast service (though it was pretty quiet on both ocassions so I wouldn’t have expected much else). They also have a good range of blended coffees (some of the better coffee in Townsville without doubt) and the staff I spoke to had a good knowledge of them & could make helpful recommendations about strength & flavour.I’d recommend it as a good spot to get a coffee before a stroll along the Strand and even better for a relaxed sunday lunch with a cold beer or wine & a beautiful view.
