Lovely decor, warm and welcoming service for a lovely weekend lunch. Looking at the menu, I was expecting greater range and more options, but later realised I had a singular identity for ‘Middle Eastern’ food, and not actually realised its distinct cuisines. Everyone in our group enjoyed our meals, which were fresh and very tasty. Portions were quite generous, which offset the cost, which is a little on the high end. Overall, the dining experience was positive.
Food was a tad bit too salty, however good portion sizes.
As much as I would love to leave positive feedback unfortunately after trying to contact management for constructive feedback they fail to respond to a message for confirming a chat they arranged. We went here last week and stayed for about 10 minutes as staff weren’t sure what dishes had chilli or paprika in them nor could tell me what was in the set menu. I’m incredibly surprised by this and have no words. I thought knowing what’s in your product would be the first thing you should know. I have been to other restaurants offering the same cuisine (Mecca bah) and never had an issue. I do understand there are many dietary requirements and I’m not the only one. So we were about to spend over $100 on a Tuesday night and went somewhere else for half the amount. I’m very disappointed with this as I really wanted to go.Hopefully things improve here as it’s a stunning site and is very unique.
I think Pilpel is a bit overrated, the food is extremely salty and left both of us feeling like the top layer of our tongue had been burnt off. The food kind of just tasted the same with every bite and had no real interesting flavour. We went for the $20 lunch deal and the best part was the lemonade. The Turkish coffee was very strong and bitter and the tea was just mint leaves and water and the baklava was a tiny piece that we had to share. Even for $20 I didn’t think it was worth it. Also the lounges as chairs is very hard to get in and out of. Also as we were waiting to pay the guy serving ice cream did the tiniest scoops of ice cream and 3 tiny scoops was $13.80! the only good thing was that the staff were very friendly – Save your money and head elsewhere
