I was eager to try this Fiery Deli on the Gold Coast as we had had a great experience at Chermside branch last month. This one was a bit of a let down. Staff were not as friendly or even happy. The food was not as good either & we had the same as Chermside-the fire roasted veg with greens & avocado salsa & pico de gallo on the side. The avocado salsa looked a bit soggy & worn & they actually mixed up our order of pico de gallo on the side & put it on my friends plate instead. Then there was the plantains? They were burnt almost black. Now I enjoy my plantains well cooked, but this was a bit over the top, my friend couldn’t chew them!
south american food has to be one of the most heart warming cuisines that exist. Now finding a place that can get it as close as my abuelitas welll.. Fiery Deli hits it right with there fried plantains (platano fritado) and pulled beef with yellow rice and the avocado salad. Only thing is the Arepa is quite average white maìz which simple. The yellow arepas always have more flavour.
With so much competition at the kitchens Fiery Deli holds up pretty well and portions are pretty generous. Great place for a quick bite or a sit down dinner.
