This is a spacious restaurant with nice decor located off the main drag in Rocky. The food is tasty but poor sized servings and a bit pricey. For example, a serve of steamed rice (which we were told is enough for one person only) is $5, a serve of coconut rice is $6. To spend $24 on coconut rice for our family of 4 is ridiculous. Our order consisted of chicken Penang curry, beef pumpkin curry, chicken pad Thai noodles for our 2 young children and 2 serves of coconut rice. The winning dish was the pad Thai – so tasty but not enough even for our children. The 2 curries had a gorgeous taste as well but consisted of little meat and was 3/4 full of cooked capsicum. Our experience was disappointing which is such a shame given the restaurant is nice, and the food tasty. I just think they are being a bit greedy with price and quality. We all left still hungry. A short walk to the local Baskin and Robbins helped fill the hunger hole.
Came to check out this restaurant because of the positive reviews. Ordered king prawns omelette and deep fried fish fillets with red hot chilli sauce with bowl of rice. Turns out the omelette was way over cooked and all I tasted was crispy egg with lots of oil oozing into my mouth with each bite. There was no seasoning to taste at all.The fish fillet dish were all tiny cubes of off cuts of fish meats, most of them were from the stomach part of the fish and didn’t taste fresh at all.A very disappointing meal. Total bill for 1 person is $52.00.
An easy way to judge a Thai restaurant is to order Pad Thai. It’s a signature Thai dish, yet many restaurants make it bland and unappealing. So this is what I ordered, and was happy I did so. It was really tasty with a variety of textures – crushed cashews, scrambled egg, fresh bean sprouts. So it satisfied my cravings. Also noteworthy that it’s not just byo, as you can order beer and wine with your meal.
I too had the panang. Loved every bite. It was full of flavour and not too hot. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The friends I went with had never had Thai before so this was a new experience. Although they don’t like spicy foods, Â there were plenty of other things on the menu for them. They ordered the calamari rings and told me they are the best they have ever had and will be coming back again just for them alone!I ordered the spring rolls for entree. They are large pieces and taste fantastic! The wines we had was not much more expensive then buying it from a bottle shop so is great value. Will definitely go back.
Best curry puffs I’ve ever had. The service was supreme, flavours amazing. Definitely our favourite restaurant in Rocky so far. Wine choice was great, cost of meal well and truly worth it.
