I enjoyed an evening with a large group at the sedge recently. The food was a highlight. The menu was varied and appeared to be well thought out. When the food arrives I was pleasantly surprised by the quality from the kitchen and the flavours were excellent. The supporting wine list with some sensational Basket Press was equally a highlight!

An enjoyable lunch. The Edge is one of the classier places in Rockhampton to enjoy a meal. It has an elegant, but relaxed modern decor. We booked a table for 6 adults and two children (under 3 years old). When we arrived, there was a high chair set up for the baby (the chair and fittings were clean). The service was prompt and attentive, without being intrusive. The waitress was also able to deal with minor requests that may have been out of the normal mode of operation (eg ordering children’s meals first and getting them served on multiple plates). The wine list was great and the beer on tap tasted fresh. The meals came in good time (10-15 minutes). Some of our party are gluten intolerant and the chef was able to adapt their preferred meal to suit this dietary requirement. The menu was not extensive in choice but had the staples (and this makes it easier to choose!). The meals were an adequate size, but if you were an especially big eater, you might be tempted to call into McDonald’s on the way home! The food was fresh and well prepared – there were no scraps left on any of our plates. All in all, a great dining experience.

4.5 star?? I hope the rooms are better than the resteraunt/bar because it left a lot to be desired. Tapas menu severely limited, staff not friendly or professional (felt like we were a burden to them) and apparently we couldn’t order an affagato because ‘the kitchen staff have gone home’. I’m sorry, but how hard is it to scoop ice cream? Just bizarre. This place is trying to be something it’s not. Spend your money elsewhere.

Good steak. I was impressed with the steak, was cooked exactly as I ordered. greens were burnt and took about 50 mins to arrive. odd given m rare. wine menu is pretty classy and staff try to make this a classy place, but the price tag and wait times do not match.
