Explored this newly opened Izakaya at Runcorn plaza. Prior to the exploration, my gut feeling told me that it may be another Korean owed Japanese eatery because there are so many restaurant in the same shopping centre owned by Korean. Walked in and was surprised by the nice lay-out and passions from the team-workers. Although service seems a little bit ‘green’, I still appreciate their services. Perused the menu, which is amazingly broad in terms of varieties of dishes that are offering. Tried some skewer and a hot pot. Taste and portion are fine but the whole dining atmosphere was seriously ruined by the noisy background music….. It may be due to my age that I just need to enjoy my meal in a relaxing vibe instead of such of such distracting atmosphere.

Came here with Paul Chan last week to try this new 2 week old Izakaya restaurant. Walking into this restaurant with dimmed lighting, I am greeted by friendly wait staff. We are informed that the Charcoal Grilled Skewers are off the menu with several other dishes. Disappointed, I discuss the menu further in English with the waitress but we encounter a language barrier and I end the conversation. I would have left the restaurant (as I was here to try the Grilled Skewers) had it not been for my host!*My Chirashi Don ($23) was nicely presented with 12 different ingredients and was served with a Miso Soup. The seafood was delicious and the rice freshly steamed. A very nice meal which I rate 4/5.*Pauls Mussels Hot Pot ($28) is served with a kilogram of Black Mussels in a plain broth topped with cut shallots. Surprisingly, at this price, steamed rice is not provided. The Mussel meat is not much bigger than a green pea so despite paying $30 for this meal, Pauls hunger is unsated. Rating: 3/5*Chicken Gyoza entree is nowhere to be seen despite us finishing our main courses. I ask the waitress to check with the kitchen. She returns saying 20 minutes okay? We agree. After a lapse of 20 minutes, I again ask her to check on our order. She returns saying the Kitchen cant do the order. This is unbelievable and its time to leave! My host is starving and this restaurant cant feed us despite the impressively dressed Chefs in a brand new kitchen. We decide to adjourn to Momo Chicken for Korean Fried Chicken.
