Average pub and lunch food you would expect. Prices are varying however they do offer a lunch menu where there are selected items for only $10 with access to the salad bar. The salad bar is not very extensive but the food provided there is quite nice – lots of roast vegetables and fresh salads. Lunch on weekends usually has quite fast service however at dinner times there is usually a wait (especially when ordering the meals). Overall a decent food destination with nice meals.
Pretty much standard pub fare and salad bar here, so don’t have overly high expectations. The rump steak and the steak sandwich we ordered were both satisfactory with reasonable sized portions and average prices. The salad bar was satisfactory with its range of choices and most of the items were palatable.
Bring your cheap dad here, he will love it. How do I know? Cause my cheap dad insists on going here every time we go out for dinner with my sister and I. Even your grandparents will love it here, especially if they’re on the pension, judging from how many oldies there are here, and how warmly they are received by the very friendly wait staff. The buffet is average. The meals are pub generous and all your favourite pub standards are here as well, steak, pies, pizzas, parmis as well. They do two for one steak nights on thursdays. I’d rather neck myself than eat here again but its the only place my dad wants to eat at, please send help. thatseriousgirl.blogspot.com
I came to the Runcorn Tavern for a birthday lunch, the group was quite large but the staff and tavern was very accommodating. I had the steak sandwich with chips and my mum had a steak. Both were really nice and all meals came out quite quickly one after the other to the whole table
Have been here numerous times mainly at lunch with the family. This place seems to have changed management a couple of times. I was slightly disappointed to find out that they took out the sweet potato chips as a side option to the usual fries. Meal wise it seems reasonable for a buffet however the salad bar is generally quite consistent in having bread rolls, hot dishes such as steamed and roast vegetables, potato bake, assorted salads and fruit. Place is clean however meals haven’t been consistent in quality every time we have come and at times have had burnt meals and had to request it to be redone.
Like any good local tavern they serve a rump steak or chicken schnitzel at a good price. The atmosphere is busy but welcoming and there are plenty of different areas to eat or pull up a stool for a drink.
The food is your typical pub food. It’s not bad and just over mediocre. There is plenty of space to sit wherever you want. Last time we ordered the little bites including the pizza bites, sliders, nachos and chicken wings. It wasn’t as great as I expected it to be but still not bad.
