*Rating is a 3.5*Came for dinner on a Friday night and the place was packed. We were seated after a short wait on cute traditional style low cushioned seats and tables. Ordered the chicken pide which was tasty, the zucchini fritters (a bit heavy and tasted a lot like felafel to be honest), famous mixed grill (a bit average, I have had much tastier ones at other places) and the potato salad (quite nice). Service was efficient and friendly, restaurant ambience was really good but food was a little lacking flavour wise. Still worth a visit if youre in the area and craving Turkish food.

The food was great. The only real complaint I have is the portion sizes for the skewers. We ordered the mixed skewers and only got two skewers, which is a bit stingy considering the dish cost $30. The Turkish bread was my favourite thing. Top tip: a bit of dip goes a long way. We ordered the mixed bread board so we got 6 dips, and even with two more Turkish breads (4 total), there was still about 30% of the dip left. I liked the carrot dip as well as the yoghurt and cucumber one. The lamb dumplings are the smallest dumplings Ive ever seen. I was spooning six of them into my mouth at a time, an eating experience that was so at odds with the classic soy sauce dumplings Im familiar with that I dont think Id even classify them as dumplings at that point. They were pretty interesting though. If youre not a big fan of yoghurt, stay away, because they were pretty much drowning in the sauce. The zucchini fritters were nice and crunchy. I would recommend them. Although not particularly memorable for myself, my friends really liked the two pides we ordered – the lamb and the roasted pumpkin. The rose garden mocktail was alright but the apple tea one was pretty much just apple juice, which was 4.50 cheaper. If youre wondering what Gazoz is, its like clear creaming soda, which is a bit disconcerting to drink but familiar to taste. This is the first time Ive had baklava but I was informed by a friend that it was resoundingly average. I enjoyed it but it was definitely very sweet – I could only finish one piece.

Just like I’d expect a Turkish restaurant, loud, a little bit crazy and lashings of drool worthy food. We ordered the Kings feast and it did not disappoint.

This has got to be one of the best places I have ever eaten, value for money and the ambience.I was travelling for work, with a large group of 13, and we made a booking ahead of time. On the night itself however we decided to all go with the Kings Feast, which, to prepare for 13 people I’m sure was no easy feat, however it came out in reasonable time. When they say feast, it really was one. The sheer amount of food for 13 people was staggering. No-one left remotely hungry, and two of the table even left with 4 boxes of leftovers, which the staff generously provided us boxes and carry bags. The staff were extremely friendly, and more than happy to substitute out the Lamb Steak Pide for the Kings Pide, as we wanted a bit more variety in the dishes meat-wise, no complaints, no quibbling at all.The ambience was excellent, with lovely fixtures, enough lighting but not too bright, comfortable table settings that were cozy but not squished either. The decor really was a contrast to stepping outside, and gave a great sense of being ‘somewhere else’ and not in Southbank. But of course, you want to know about the food. Well, snap, it was amazing. The turkish bread and dips were warm, fresh, very good. Garlic, carrot, beetroot, tomato salsaish, eggplant, it was all amazing. We had to limit ourselves so we wouldn’t fill up before the other dishes came out!The spinach pasty thing was very flakey, and the comment was that it was like a greek spinowhatever it is called but thicker and dense. It had a great texture and the balance of the spinach and cheese was spot on. The kings pide was juicy, rich and cheesy, though they didn’t manage to cut through the pide all the way, but you know what, it didn’t matter as we all tore into it.The mixed grill, potato salad, and rice came out at the same time, and boy we were struggling to put any into our stomachs, but we fought on. Heavily spiced, but great flavours on all of the meats from the grill, though its a pity they weren’t still on skewers. The rice was heavily loaded with butter, adding colour and depth of flavour to compliment the meat. The potato salad though was a touch on the ordinary, but you know what, its a potato salad, and with all the flavours going on, it was good to have something simple and plain to just bring everything back down.To wrap it all off, if it wasn’t enough carbs, the desert plates were just boggling. You’d expect maybe some small pieces of desert being a turkish delight and baklava, but there were these massive squares of honey cake. My goodness, it would be enough for anyone to be diabetic and still worth it. My boss took 3 pieces that were untouched home (because some on the table just could not fit them in!). I kid you not, we went to the Coles in West End to buy a tupperware box so she could fly it back to Sydney as she didn’t want to waste them… In hindsight, I should have fought her for one haha….But wow, what a meal. The final bill for each person was $65, but this also included a jug of lychee cocktail, a gin and tonic, some kind of pink cocktail, a coca cola, and about 10 beers. I would have said that even at $65 without drinks, it would have been worth it.Top notch. If I was in the area again with friends and cash to splash, I’d give it a go again, and hope to have the same great experience.

Crazy on a Saturday night. Very very crowded. They have entertainment on sat night so makes it very loud. The place is a bit dark but goes with the vibe. Food was in massive sizes. Hubby and l decided to share and lucky we did. The 3 dishes we got was more then enough. The lamb dumplings werent what we expected and you could hardly taste the lamb. But the rest was nice. Comfort food. Would love to come back with the kids. They would really enjoy the dancing.
