Popolo Italian Bar and Kitchen is located on 3 Sidon Street in the heart of Southbank with a view of the river. They are a restaurant but on Sundays have introduced picnics on the river quay green. They provide you with a picnic rug and ice bucket and when the food is ready, they bring you down a picnic basket filled with all the things you have ordered. And best of all its BYO!When ordering for the picnic, you must order from the set picnic menu. As there was two of us, we selected the Picnic Per Due package ($65.00). The picnic basket included an antipasto platter, which had a selection of salami, cheese, olives, mustard fruits, pickled vegetables and breads. This was quite delicious, however the only cheese given to us was blue cheese. I love blue cheese, however the person I was with did not so I think its a fair assumption that the cheese type should be specified on the menu, as it is not something that everyone has a liking for.For the full review please visit: foodspaceaus.com/blog/lunch-popolo-italian-bar-kitchenThank you!! foodspaceaus.com

I went here as part of a group of 10 for a work lunch and can highly recommend – although if a work lunch, you may not want to go back to work afterwards! the restaurant is perfectly situated by the river and the food is awesome. We had a mix of 3 small plates and 1 large share plate (can highly recommend the crispy artichokes, the pumpkin and ricotta ravioli and the arancini balls) along with two pizzas, I couldn’t fault anything and was pretty full at the end. Service was also really friendly and efficient. Will come here again and hopefully be able to stay a bit longer…need to try dessert!
