The venue looks great, the staff are really friendly and the food is superb. The wraps are the perfect healthy takeaway lunch.Whilst this time around my gf and I had the Feast for Two which was huge.We chose the Village Salad (the classic Greek style salad) and the Calamari for our sides. For the meat of choice we got chicken, and it was excellently char grilled! The Calamari was of the quality that you would expect from a restaurant that specialises in seafood.Between two of us we struggled to finish the meal it was well portioned. And for $43 it’s extremely well priced for our date night.Pair that with a Mythos beer, it was a night thoroughly enjoyed.
My friends and I really enjoyed our meal at Zeus Street in Southbank, and will come back! I have the lamb souvla and a side of haloumi – absolutely delicious! The lamb was cooked perfectly and held great flavour. Everything was really well priced for the food that you get.
Came here to eat on Christmas Eve, not many places were open so thankful these guys were. We ordered 2 spartan boxes, haloumi chips and two classic tzimmys. To say we were disappointed is an understatement… when all you can taste is undercooked pita (claimed to be fluffy bread) you know youre not being served authentic Greek. The proportion of bread to meat is out. The portion sizes might be ok if your Santas elf. The Tzatziki tasted more like hummus against the fluffy bread. Oh and they forgot to add chips in my pita. The haloumi chips are ok if youre fine with paying $2 per chip! We wont be coming back, sorry we tried to like it.
For starters at the counter the girl was impatient and rude but that is ok. Then, they claim that the spartan pack had 140g of meat. When it arrived, there were two over cooked sad looking and underweight pieces of chicken. I dont think their food is anything close to Greek either. I dont know maybe I just had a really bad experience but so did 4 other people on my table.
SUMMARYFast food Greek cuisine that although isnt bad, feels a bit overpriced for what you are getting.AMBIENCE 3/5I dont get the Zeus part of the restaurant. If you ignore the name on the wall, its decorated like a generic Australian cafe. Does have outside seating with gas heaters.SERVICE 2/5Fast food ordering, but slow service. Took 20 minutes to get our food. For the price range, you are getting fast food service but at a higher price range so that discrepancy is a bit jarring.PRESENTATION 4/5No issues really. In individual baskets which is nice, but bland.FOOD TASTE 3/5Again nothing that is amazing. The food just tasted like ordinary Greek fast food. Donuts dessert were ok. Calamari fried were a bit soggy. Not impressed. As a side note, the Zeus for two $49 special does not seem worth it or you are getting much of a discount at all.
I don’t know why but I always pass by Zeus without feeling the need to come into the store, but every time I do sit down for a meal, I always have a good experience. The staff are super friendly, and the Zeus Lamb I had was absolutely delicious, although there was a bit too much veggie in it. The only real point of improvement I would say is that the portions are a bit small and you definitely need to order sides or dessert in order to feel full from the meal because there isn’t a lot of meat in the dishes.
Consistent high quality pitas, chips and salad. Great service, nice ambience and great drinks. Allow modifications for my partner who is gluten free and low Fodmap
