My friend and I went to Red Hut last night for the first time. I have to say I really enjoyed their food. I ordered the Crayfish in Hunan Spicy Sauce, which I have never tried before and I just loved the dish. I have never eaten so many crayfish in one sitting, they were fresh and the meat peeled off the shell very easily. And for $32.80 I thought it was very reasonably priced. Oh and the sauce! It was not very spicy when I first tasted it, I think it was more of a building chili heat. So the more I ate my meal, the spicier it felt. But even though it was quite spicy, I loved the fact that I could still taste all the other spices in the sauce (not just the chili) and I felt that balanced out the dish for me perfectly. I admit I was sweating by the end of my meal but it was very delicious.I had the pleasure of tasting my friend’s dish, which was a spicy black bean beef stir fry. It was a dry stir fry as there didn’t seem to be any sauce. However, the pieces of beef and veges I tried were very aromatic and so flavorful. It really had a bit of a punch to it right from the very first taste. My friend said she really enjoyed her dish too.We thought the service was very polite and friendly. I am positive that I will go back again to try other dishes. Though I don’t think I can eat Hunan style meals on a frequent basis due to the knock your socks off chili kick. I would really like to go back again very soon.
Lazy waitress. Food was OK, I guess, for a Chinese restaurant in brisbane, spicy enough, can’t say the same thing about the service. Waitress was most unhelpful, asked me to write down what I wanted, unheard of anywhere else, and then always chatting with each other rather than attending to the customers
Was buying lunch for myself and a colleague. Ordered my colleagues lunch and paid on his card. Ordered my lunch and paid only to see I had been over charged. The lady at the counter forgot to include an item on the first bill so charged me without telling me. Very dishonest.
Simple, tasty, cheap, I’d go again any time.. I was taken here by a work colleague who is a Red Hut regular. We ordered off the simple Hunan menu – six dishes for 7 people, $72. Everything was tasty and had different interesting flavours. I got to try some dishes I’m never had before, which I was pleased about as so many Chinese restaurants in Australia have cookie-cutter menus. Sure, you could order lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork but we chose eggplants with Szechuan pepper and twice cooked pork belly instead. If you want fancy, this isn’t a place to go. If you want cheap food with great flavour, then I would heartily recommend Red Hut.
Authentic Food. I came across this place in 2013 and have been coming back ever since, the food is great, try some of the more authentic dishes and you will not be disappointed for example the braised pork belly is very delicious. We had our daughters christening there because we love it so much. The staff could be more efficient but they are well meaning, they try there best. Red Hut makes homely full flavoured generous dishes.
Been meaning to try this new restaurant in Spring Hill for a while but was hesitant as the menu seemed a little confusing – but how wrong I was. The chef came to our table to explain various dishes to us and waitress was so attentive. Food was some of the best and most authentic Chinese food we have had outside of China. We’ll done Red Hut. We will be back!
Food always good, but not service. Food is always good, and never let us down. But the service is to the students around that area, but for other people ,the service seems too ordinary. If they could improve the service, the more customers would go back.
