Had a Groupon 2 courses dinner last night at Pantry restaurant in the Novotel hotel. Set-up is quite grand and I love the ceiling decor. Serivice deserves thumb-up due to the fact that the waiter automatically asked if we need some dish dish plate to share or entree, which is a very good observation and taking care of the diners. That is what we mean by service. Ordered the entrees of Thai Spicy Fried Calarmari, Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings and mains of Grilled Pork Cutlets & 400g Sirloin (they did not have the rib fillet last night). Portions of chicken wings seemed too small for the price of $36 and the texture was too dried, however, taste was good. Texture of calamari was not consistent but the sauce was delicious. Cuilinary skill on the sirloin and pork cutlet is good, particularly the sirloin was done perfectly med-rared (the best degree of steak preparation lately). We were filled up so full that our stomach could not accommodate any dessert. Overall, I feel happy with the dinner, particularly with a good deal from Groupon. Having said that, the menu’s prices seems to be reasonable except the chicken wings. Recommend foodies to have a go!

Luckily or unlucky whatever the case maybe, we had a coupon deal here. We were expecting a half decent meal & that is what we received! The entre was swimming in what tasted like bottled mayo. Prawns were acceptable. Calamari inconsistent hit & miss with regards to tenderness. Mains average, potato’s accompanying chicken dish inconsistent again, some cooked some not. Chicken was bland, as was my barramundi, (I actually ordered extra chilli) tad dry also. Service good although a long wait for mains. We have another coupon for b/f so here’s hoping it proves better than dinner!!

Found the food to be different. Rather small menu that doesn’t cater for everyone. The breakfast buffet is what you come for. Great choices and plenty of it. If they chance the dinner menu then this is a great place.

Pretty average Hotel with pretty average food. The 4 star rating this hotel has must be self rated. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Hotel just behind the bar and during the day, the restaurant is flooded with daylight through the large floor to ceiling door windows. At night it’s dimly lit setting a casual evening experience.Breakfast buffet at $30 or $15 for the basic offers a variety of options to have you fuelled for the day. Even came with the complimentary fruit flies which covered a plate of fruit muffins in the back corner. Nothing like a bit of food poisoning for the day or a side of bacteria or parasites entering the body to make for an interesting day. Having skipped the food hazards, had me a serving of the standard big breakfast usuals like fried eggs, bacon, mushroom, tomatoes, hasbrowns and some spinach with a side of pineapple juice. All if which were adequately covered. At night, we endulged in some PERI PERI SPICED CHICKEN BREAST on a quinoa, pumpkin and kale salad $32.0 and the BARRAMUNDI on flamed Tuscan vegetables with mango, coriander and pickled pepper achar $36.0 accompanied with a couple of glasses of ZEPPLIN SHIRAZ (Barossa) $9.5. Our meals were pretty good but could of done with a couple of shakes of S&P. To finish off the night, we grabbed a CHEESE PLATTER $23 which had some nice blue cheese, a brie and a cheddar along with an assortment of crackers and dried fruits. Didn’t take any photos of dinner as it was just too dark.Waiting staff at the Novotel were polite and helpful however with the mishap at breakfast with food safety, they really need to get on top of that immediately! Had it not been for that, this review could’ve landed them a higher rating. It is what it was so until next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

For entre I ordered the the baked oysters killpatrick with the stuffed chicken breast for main. The oysters didn’t seem fresh at all. For an oysters killpatrick I didn’t really taste any Worcestershire sauce in the dish at all.. The bacon on top was burnt and very chewy. For main the stuffed chicken breast was both warm and cold. It was served with a sweet potato pure and some vegetables. The potato pure and the chicken stuffing was very cold. I give this restaurant a 1.5/10 because the scotch and Coke kept me a tiny bit happy..

Water. I came here about a year ago, I loved the food and service but was a little dissapointed when we were charged $7.50 for water. I find that rather expensive especially when the waiter just asked if we would like some water, usually water is complimentary (it did come in a bottle).
