Absolutely smashing Thai. Best on southside. Tried 5 others in Calamvale/Browns Plains/Sunnybank and we are happy to make the trip to Springwood even for take away. Rarely disappointed. Service very prompt. Coconut rice exactly how we like it. Pad Thai usually a winner (we try and avoid that dirty pan taste 99% of times). Satay Beef is my winner. Mild Red Curry our other go to dish. Spring rolls for starters.Never change Thai Orchid (im looking at you Shala Thai in Browns Plains).

First time dining in and the atmosphere was beautiful. We got a cocktail to start, entrees and then main (way to full for desert). The sizing of the meals is really good- worth the price! The quality of the food was amazing, so so yum! Will definitely be back

Thai Orchard is the longest running Thai restaurant in Southside Brisbane. Classy Thai decorations, great tasting food and warm hospitality have made this establishment a Tomcat family favourite for over 20 years. Traditional curries and pad thais are good but how about their other offerings? With that question in mind we were there for weekday dinner & ordered: dim sims, orchid mixed entre, prawn tomyum soup, papaya salad, beef massaman, pla prik khing fried fish fillets and desserts to share. The entres arrived within 20min so lets start with the dim sims. The freshly steamed goodies contain minced chicken, prawns and veggies with a touch of fried onions to garnish. First bite and I was blown away by the delicate and flavourful fillings. Each ingredient complemented each other and worked perfectly together. Paired with a citrusy soy based dipping sauce, my palate was taken to a happy place. Cant believe Im saying this but one of the best dim sims Ive tried this year is from a Thai restaurant. Bravo! 4.5/5The orchid mixed entre consists a deep fried crumbed coconut prawn, beef curry puff, chicken bag and three dipping sauce to complement the goodies. The coconut prawn was well cooked with a crispy flavourful outer crust and retained the juiciness and tenderness of the main ingredient. The chicken bag: well-seasoned with a delicate chicken flavour and water chestnut crunch. Beef curry puff was fragrant with a well-balanced beef vs curry taste. As an overall package its a good 4/5Tomyum soup was up next with large tiger prawns, mushrooms and fresh spices. The soup was sour and spicy with lemongrass, tomatoes, mushroom, lime and fish sauce depth of flavour. The prawn quality here is top notch and plenty was included in the bowl of happiness. 4/5With the entrees sorted, the mains arrived. First up: beef massaman. The decent serving contains large chunks of beef, potatoes, peanuts and onions all cooked in the massaman curry sauce. The meat was butter soft with big beefy flavours. Sauce was rich and showed strong depth of flavour. Paired with fragrant jasmine rice, you have a brilliant curry perfect for a cold winter night. A minor disappointment was the slightly undercooked potatoes. 3.5/5Curry paste with fried fish fillets stir fry (Pla prik khing) was up next with zucchini and finely chopped lime leaves. The intense curry aroma immediately captured my attention. The fish presents a light batter with tender juicy fillets consistent with each piece. The curry paste was strong and bold in flavour with hints of sweet and sour. Paired with the soft and mushy zucchinis, you have a dish great with rice. A minor letdown was the overly salty seasoning. 4/5Papaya salad with green beans, carrots, tomatoes and roasted peanuts all tossed in a lime based sour sauce. The salad was crunchy and refreshing with a big sour bite. Paired with the richly flavoured mains it adds the much needed refreshment to the palate. 4.5/5The first dessert: deep fried banana with ice cream arrived 10min after the mains. The plate of goodies includes a coconut battered deep fried banana, vanilla ice cream, whip cream and a chocolate wafer stick. The banana was warm and crispy with big coconut flavours. The ice cream on the other hand made the dessert overly rich and sweet. If a light coconut ice cream was utilized, the dish would be perfect. 3.5/5Coconut ice cream with sticky rice was the last treat for the evening. The well-presented dish contains whipped cream with crushed peanuts, large scoop of coconut ice cream and warm glutinous rice all drizzled with a sweet coconut sauce. The ice cream was refreshing and mild sweet with fragrant coconut flavours. The sweet sticky rice: soft, delicate and worked brilliantly with the ice cream to creating an east meets west fusion. As an overall package its a refreshing dessert to conclude our meal. 4.5/5 Overall service for a busy weekday dinner was brilliant. Waitresses were attentive and can recommend dishes based on preferred tastes. The owner Tina greeted us warmly and asked for feedback at the end of our meal. The focus on continuous improvement was clearly shown. 5/5When it comes to Thai restaurants, Brisbane has been spoiled with choices. Does Thai Orchid still retain the magic like the 1990s? The answer to me is a confident YES.Hint: Thai green curry and cashew nut stir-fry dishes comes highly recommended; their lunch specials present great value and decent serving size.

Happened to visit this place on the recommendation of a friend on a busy friday night. Fortunately we has reserved a table in advance, so not much hassle to be seated. The food’s not so great, server’s mixes the orders and the rice portions tad too smaller given the mains.

Always a good experience whether it be dining in or take away. Best Thai food I have eaten and I don’t bother eating anywhere else now, because it just doesn’t taste nearly as good. Reasonable prices too. They really do deserve the title of best Thai restaurant in Brisbane.

This place is hands down the best Thai place I have been too. Value for money was exceptional. I came here with 6 of my colleagues and we ordered the banquet for $39 each. Service was exceptional and decor was clean and relaxing. The banquet came with 6 different dishes and desert. The entre was kebabs, prawns in crumbs, curry puffs and spring rolls with their relevant sauces. The sauces were the best I have tried in asan cuisine. I suspect they make it them selves. The mains were pork dish, beef dish and fish curry. All were amazing. For dessert we had the option of mango or vanilla ice cream. I had the mango and it tastes just like a weis bar. Quality through and through with this place. Would recommend again and again. Great for a work lunch as well.
