Eventually had dinner with friends in this newly opened hot pot restaurant after we tried to book table here since two weeks ago. Lately, there are so many hot pot restaurant opened in Sunnybank area. Excluding the Ru Fu in Upper Mt Gravatt, Davids Hot Pot @ Calamvale Central, Yu Xiang @ previous High Fresh food court and the In The Jin next to the Charcoal House all joined together for the terrible competition to have the same market share in serving hot pot cuisine. Although 6 Po is serving mainly skewers but there are also lots of items that are not presented with sticks. As the info from other foodies, expenditure on these restaurant is not cheap with average $120 to $140 for two persons. Soup bases for selection are similar so the competitive power comes from the freshness and varieties of food items. I have just been to Ru Fu twice (like their services and spacious dining area) and it was the first time to 6 PO last night. Results are: ambience (not spacious and not enough ventilation), service (just under average and some staff acting like robots), soup base (let down as compared to Ru Fu), food varieties ( very interesting and some marinated items are tasteful).Overall price is not bad as we paid only $180 for group of five but the way that they work out the bill by counting number of skewers needs to be improved.Rating 3.5/5
