Re-visited this Korean restaurant for lunch in a group of five last month. We order five different dishes to share among us. They are: Hand-made cheese stick, old fashion Korean style lunch box (my favourite), Tofu hot pot, Beef rib hot pot and the Hot stone pot with chickens. The first two dishes really sing but those hot pot was just average, particularly the beef ribs hot pot was seriously let down. I don’t even have a chance to eat the meat from the rib because the beef ribs were just not yet ready to serve…. it is so disappointed…4 months ago Rating 4/5This new-born baby took over the previous spot of Dae Jung Kum located opposite to the Time Square. Had dinner last night and it made us so excited to see the broad range of food offering on the menu. BBQ, hot pot and a la Carte. The most exciting item was the Old Fashion Style Korean Lunch Box, which we watched Korean had it in some Korean movies. Needless to say, this is the a-must of the night and we placed an order of Tofu Seafood Hot Pot. The lunch box came in around five minute. We opened the box and found that there were slices of spicy sausage, fried egg, seaweed and rice. Then we followed what we watched in the movie to hold up the box and gave it a hard shakes. It was a fun and then we opened the box. Wow, the rice was stuck on one side of the box with well mixed seaweed and egg. The taste was so good. Next came the hot pot. There were a large roll of tofu cut into two pieces sitting at the Centre if the hot pot. Broth was tasteful wit diced vegetables and mixtures of seafood. Loved the tofu, it was very silky. It matched well with the broth. Spiciness was just spot on. Overall, it was a good impression and I am sure that this restaurant will be successful in trading.
Tried this new bbq place out not long after it opened under a new banner. (Used to be Dae Jung Kum )Ambience: similar to the place that used to be here… just a little tidier and no more buffet bar. Service: a little reserved but friendlyish. Food: not bad. Usual Korean bbq fare; however, the meats were presented well. Did not get any green leaves for wrapping our meat in. And the bunchan were a little boring and small in serving size. We also received some light cheddar in a foil pie dish but we were not sure what to do with this??Would have liked some rice with the bbq. We also ordered a beef soup and cold noodle soup to go with our meal. Both were light and mildly flavoured. Verdict: so so… may need to try again later.
Staff are friendly,However food a little on the missed side,I tried some cold noodles which usually hard to get it wrong when you are trying new place,They did good presentation but the taste of the soup was of average and the fat was still in the soup (supposed to be clear of fat crystals).I took a photo of the spoons I used which you can see those fat crystals are present on the metal spoons, 3 different side dishes which are all not properly seasoned, kimchi was a bit bitter and macaroni was super sweet, as well as the sliced fish cake.Overall I was not too impressed and make a reasoning as to the place was quiet (as supposed to be busy on a sunday afternoon)..
