Came for dinner as part of a group of 10. First to arrive we were asked to sit in the waiting bay rather than taken to our reserved table. It was a bit of a downer as we weren’t offered drinks which made the 15min wait for the others seem longer than it was. Once seated we were given the food & beverage menus and left alone. It felt like we’d been forgotten taking another 15mins to grab the attention of a staff member, order & receive my drink because nobody came. Another 15mins past until the rest of our table were able to order & receive their drinks. Some time later again we were able to order our food. The chef was very entertaining and interactive & for myself, specifically ordering the beef (medium), it was cooked to perfection. During his culinary performance starters were served and my order had been forgotten which was unfortunate as I was very hungry by this point.Overall the experience was unique, being my first time at Teppanyaki, however although the staff were always smiling & friendly the service was lacking. Meat component of my dish was well done however the vegetables & rice which had been sitting there had gone cold.

Very disappointing. After raving about how good tepinyakki is to my friends who had traveled from interstate for a quick visit to Surfers Paradise, we decided to give Hanazono a try.We were all expecting an entertaining dinner with lots of tricks and flips however I think they flipped one piece of egg at us and the show was over.If you are looking for an entertaining tepinyakki experience i suggest to look else where.
Comparing to other teppanyaki restaurants it was very clean & well staffed . Drink we’re not cheap & there was no byo . If you’re staying at the q1 towers in surfers it’s right outside your front door . The cooks as usual were entertaining & it had a great family vibe . The cost was very reasonable & you don’t have to order big as the meals are a good portion . Rating only 2.5 as it’s very hard to find a great teppanyaki anywhere in Australia that we know of yet but I’ll keep you all posted if we find a really great 1.
Hanazono teppanyaki was such an enjoyable experience for us, we loved the chefs skills in cooking and the little entertaining moments they put in to their routine, especially the part where they chop up omelette and throw it at you to catch with your mouth. Its hilarious and so much fun. Excellent food quality also.
