I would have given a 5 star based on the food I have eaten there a few times now but unfortunately, the last time I went there, I was seated at the back and in plain view of the freezer and fridge in the kitchen. Upon finishing our meal, I seen the chef open the freezer and pull out 2 pieces of bread (they were both sides to a bread roll) and because he needed to close the bag back up and place it back in the freezer but his hands were occupied with the bread, he placed the bread on the floor in front of his shoes, packed the bag back into the freezer and proceeded to pick the bread back up and walked over to the bench to continue to make somebody’s meal with that bread. I alerted the waitress to who came to clear our table and she seemed genuinely shocked and disgusted. I’m not sure if she said anything to him (the chef) or management but hopefully this isn’t standard practice! I won’t be eating there again which is unfortunate because I have an autistic son who has sensory issues so there is only 4 different types of foods he will eat and one of them is the thick toast from the coffee club. So for the rest of our holiday here, I can’t take him back there and that plus one other type of food, is all he will eat for breakfast.
The potato Rosti I ordered was horrible. The bacon was overcooked. I could hardly eat it. And the plate was disgusting . It was not washed off properly. I’d never come back to this place again.
This is a reliable Surfers Paradise Cafe that serves good food and coffee at a fair price. Service staff are friendly and helpful despite the holiday crowd after the New Year. We place our lunch order at the counter and within minutes Phuong Tran is sipping on her Pink Grapefruit & Strawberry Soda. Our nicely presented meals are ready after a short wait. *Corn & Zucchini Fritters ($17) comes with a poached egg, bacon and avocado. *Beef & Bacon Burger ($15.90) is served with fresh salad in a warm toasted bun. We enjoy our freshly made meals and rate our lunch a 4.5! It is no wonder this is our favourite Cafe on the Glitter Strip. Thank you Guys!
