Great food at reasonable prices – with an excellent host!My family and I stumbled on this small cafe located in one of the historic former wool stores while exploring Teneriffe on Christmas Eve during our recent stay in Bowen Hills, an easy walk away.We ordered pre-prepared items from the cabinet at the front (as opposed to menu items from the kitchen) and the manager (owner?) was happy to confirm that the ingredients met my wife’s dietary requirements. We also chatted about his philosophy of keeping prices consistent with the style of food rather than charging more based on the trendy location.My wife and I both had the vegetable frittata. Perhaps because it was Christmas Eve they threw in a lovely side salad of rocket, olives & semi-dried tomato – the chef apologised for not having fresh tomato available! Our daughter had toasted Turkish bread with salami and olive tapenade. Generous serves of delicious food for a grand total of $25. We planned to go there again, but unfortunately their holiday period opening hours didn’t quite align with our holiday activities.We sat outside on the balcony enjoying the weather so it wasn’t easy to hear the background music, but it was Neil Young. A cafe that serves great food at a reasonable price with Neil Young in the background gets top marks in my books.
