A bit late to the party, but a couple of weeks ago I finally managed to make my way to Milky Lane which had opened at Newstead earlier in the year. Having avoided the crazy launch crowds, I went there for a quick Saturday lunch with a good friend before an afternoon of board games. . The menu consisted of a large variety of burgers and sides, but the drinks menu was definitely a highlight with a good selection of cocktails and milkshakes that we were keen to try.
My friends and I (who travelled from overseas) visited your Milky Lane in Newstead, Gasworks! We ordered a lot and had a great time overall with the food and drinks, however the customer service was TERRIBLE.The night was not busy at all, and there was enough waiters to serve the customers – from kitchen to front end to bar to cashier – everything, every base looked covered (my partner owns a restaurant so we observed how it all ran)So many of the staff could see we were putting our hands up for service or even making that courtesy “eye contact” to see if they’d notice – one did, and IGNORED US and walked straight to the kitchen to talk to his mates. Another acknowledged we put our hands up and continued walking to clean their spot – I understand that some people are designated to certain areas and responsible for their duties- but customer service is always priority. After like 5 mins of trying and waving of trying to get there attention, I stood up and asked one guy who was completely looking at the iPad at the cashier the whole time (with no one there.. and asked him, “Who’s the manager around here?” To have him reply “me” – service wasn’t good and probably was a reflection of the management that night, absolutely terrible. One guy did serve us decently, but chose to ignore and look away when we were trying to get their attention. Also, aren’t staff supposed to communicate that a customer is in need? Cos none of them did that.
Originated from Bondi, Sydney, Milky Lane is a well known burger joint, roughly around 8 stores around Australia. If you haven’t seen this place on social media, you need to see it right now. The burgers look amazing and so does their unique cocktails and thickshakes. Not only that, the whole environment scream hip hop and their wall painting says it all. We arrived a day after their opening ceremony and the store was still packed. There was DJ playing definitely setting the mood of the restaurant.
