The best breakfast/lunch place Ive experienced in years, coupled with friendly owners who get to know the regulars and love to really look after people. Amazing flavours across the menu, and a breakfast chicken bowl that has sparked a serious addiction.
Went here for weekend brunch with partner. There is a large selection of savoury and sweet dishes available, including bowls, wraps, toasties and more. In addition, there is a cabinet of tempting muffins near the front counter. We selected our table and went to order at the counter. We ordered the Chilli Miso Eggs and the Belgium Waffles, as well as cappuccino and latte (comes in ‘small’ or ‘large’).The coffees were deliciously smooth and came with a small glass of sparkling water. The Chilli Miso Eggs were flavourful – the eggs were perfectly poached and there was a good kick of chilli, which went well with the fresh tomato salsa. The Waffles were nice – fairy floss, crispy waffles, ice cream and fresh fruit. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth.Casual ambience – plenty of indoors seating (some outdoors) with open barista and kitchen areas. Friendly and effcient staff – kudos to the two chefs; our meals came out in within 10-15 mins during peak-brunch-hour! Reasonable prices.Overall, a lovely addition to the Newstead area with good breakfast/coffee and brunch options.
One of the best muffins I have ever eaten. Not only that, it was unique because it was a bread & butter pudding flavored one filled with lusious berries & a crunchy homemade top. It was also huge & very dense- just beautiful. Next the coffee also a winner. So smooth & silky with a super coffee hit served with a tiny glass of spitzer on the side. My toasted vegetarian sandwich was chock full of fresh spinach &:eggplant with a tasty pesto. Simplicity yes, but bang on with flavor
No 68. exudes an energetic vibe. This Newstead food enthusiast recommends it for every manner of cafe visit. It’s owned and run by a family, who all happen to be some of the most thoughtful folks you will ever meet. The environment is truly comforting, with a well seated and gorgeously lit inside that opens sideways for a couple of intimately shaded outdoor elevated tables. From counter and serving chats, I’ve learnt that both the husband and wife chefs hold a respected history of Sydney fine dining. Their past experiences in this arena come across in the large and attentive menu range, which can start from perfected eggy fare to the extremes of breakfast spice (I’m currently reverse engineering their chilli miso), brunch sweets (waffles with icecream and fairy floss anyone?), and lunches that’ll leave you counting down the seconds until your midday crossfit-enforced calory-count balances to zero (…Newstead). There is only one thing missing from the number 68, and that’s you!
