*2.5 but this has been boosted by the delicious chai latte*After checking out of the Chifley upstairs we decided to quickly grab a meal before leaving Townsville. Grabbed a big brekkie to preempt the long journey home and added some hollandaise – for $3. I don’t mind paying extra for sauce but when you only get a tiny dollup of it I get a bit miffed. Unfortunately I was a little relieved they had been so stingy to find out that their version tasted more like a sour lemon butter than a creamy rich sweet addition… Everything I hate about grilled tomatoes was on that plate, warm wet bitter slop – there was zero love that went into that breakfast… Half boiled ‘poached eggs’ just finished it all off. After having one of the best breakfasts the day before elsewhere this competes for the worst. Was left very unsatisfied with the food 🙁
This was a little disappointing. Ordered bacon and poached eggs. Bacon was good, poached eggs were – ah can’t tell if it was the chef being creative and it went wrong or someone who doesn’t know how to poach eggs. The toast was too crunchy. Coffee was ordinary, didn’t drink it. Recommendation – find somewhere else. If I had more time I would have complained.
