Had to ask for menus after waiting 20mins then meals took close to 1.5hrs to appear. The duck was tasty but dry & not interesting enough for a $38 price tag. Fellow guests also felt their meals were tasty but overpriced for what was plated.
I have been coming here for 3years, the food is always great and service is very attentive and friendly. The best restaurant experience overall in Townsville.
After being informed this was one of the better restaurants in the Ville, we expected something a bit better than what we received. Fish was undercooked and when the waiter asked how we enjoyed the food, we said it was average. That was the extent of that conversation. Apparently that is standard here. NOT impressed.
First let me say The food excellent, the pork belly was brilliant, as was the beef cheeks and the lamb shanks. Unfortunatly the same could not be said about the service, although everyone working there was friendly and polite the time taken between placing drinks orders, ordering food and the actual delivery of the food was excessive. After dinner coffee was served before the desert……. A great meal spoiled by poor execution……
Not worth the money or the wait. Really was not a quality restaurant.1. We waited unacceptable periods of time for our meals and drinks.2. Food was over salted and poorly cooked.For entre I had Oven baked quail, port and fig stuffing, braised lentils, summer vegetable salad 21.9 – The quail was ok but overcooked and not at all crispy. The lentils were very salty. Portions were tiny and it took well over 45mins to receive.For main I had Bouillabaisse – classic French seafood stew, local seafood, garlic croutons 39.9 – This meal was a bitter disappointment with mushy overcooked prawns and overcooked chewy scallops. The stew sauce was so salty it overwhelmed all of the flavours of the seafood. Except for that old seafood taste that you would get from a seafood marinara mix purchased at coles. YUK!Even my brothers steak was over salted and not cooked how we ordered it (medium-rare, came out medium)We did not stick around for dessert.
Superb dining experience. A few close friends highly recommended Michel’s to me, and I can safely say that my high expectations were met. There aren’t many top end restaurants in Townsville that can deliver at such a high standard. The staff were fantastic – formal, friendly, efficient and very pleasant.The atmosphere was great – a little noisy perhaps but with a restaurant full of customers that is hard to avoid.And the food was fantastic – well presented, well cooked, adequate portions (if the chocolate dessert had been any bigger it would have been far too rich for me to finish!).Overall a fantastic place to have a special meal at.
