Absolutely disgusting. I dont know who is cooking the meals but they shouldnt have a job. Ordered a steaks sandwich and the meat came out green. The rest of the food came out tasting like pure salt. How long do they keep their fresh food? Do not recommend!

9 July, 2016It was a while between visits so we returned to Hotel HQ on Saturday night. I ordered the Cajun Salmon which was very nice. The only disappointing thing tonight was that it was a cold night and all the main dishes came with salad. I asked if I could swap it out for hot vegetables. They were prepared to offer this as a side for an additional $5 but not to swap it out. Not sure why the default is salad in July. Apart from that everything was good. 19 July, 2015We were disappointed with the food here on Saturday night. We have had many great meals at Hotel HQ but maybe they had a bad night on Saturday. I ordered the meal of the day, which was prawn pad thai. It didn’t taste like a proper pad thai. The prawns were lovely but there weren’t enough vegetables. There was too much sauce and it tasted like it had come from a packet. The meal also got cold very quickly. My partner had a smoked salmon, avocado and brie pizza which he didn’t like at all. He described it as soggy and there were simply too many toppings. It looked quite oily on top from the cheese. We’ll give them another chance but don’t recommend these meals.11 May, 2013We have been to Hotel HQ many times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. The staff are friendly and attentive. You won’t find foie gras, foams or crepinette on the menu – and sometimes that’s a good thing. This is afterall a suburban pub. They do regular food and they do it well. They know that families have kids so they not only provide a kids’ menu, they also provide a kids playroom. This is a smart move because once the kids are engrossed in a video game or a plastic sword fight, the adults can talk over another round of drinks. Tonight I had the vegetable stack which is a new addition to the menu. It would have benefited from the addition of some protein (maybe a slice or two of halloumi) but was otherwise lovely with a delicious pesto. The fish of the day was salmon and came out with a wonderful crispy skin, broccolini and mashed sweet potato. The barramundi we well cooked an tasty. The rib eye was described as slightly charred but otherwise looked good. The decor is quite modern and spacious which also helps to keep the noise levels acceptable. All in all, it’s not fine dining but it is a very good, modern suburban pub and I’m sure our family will enjoy many more meals here.
Another one bites the dust. Use to have a great feed here. lunch several times a week, frequent dinners. been 2 months or so since I last visited and what a shame. CANT get a simple steak sandwich any more, used to be one of my favourites in Brisbane!!! has to be on fancy bread and over priced for what it is. got oysters Kilpatrick today, seemed to be only oysters with bacon and burnt to the S–t house BBQ sauce, black bubbled and sticky, horrible flavour and for the price really quite sad. whole place seems to have gone the way of all Brisbane has. DOLAR before quality. sadly wont be rushing out here to eat again in a hurry.
Terrible fathers day breakfast. Very average food, food was cold or not there, not enough drinks for the number of people eating. coffee cups the size of a thimble. would never go back.
Restaurant. Had beautiful meals here Also very bad Steaks underdone or overdone Breakfast not enough variety Previously Kids prices for breaky were advertised with no age Tyrns out a 13 year old pays an adult price! An in between price would be nice Friendly restaurant staff on all occasions Bar staff -one in particular young blonde Very rude every visit we’ve made Have heard her swear in conversations across bar to locals on many occasions Will continue to go back but from reading other reviews we will see Let’s see how Father’s Day lunch goes today!
