Found this restaurant using the Groupon voucher (basically half off all hotpot). Interesting decor inside, kind of random but has a nice patio that fits the Westfield style. The seafood was really fresh especially the prawns and scallops. Good soup base. Great Groupon deal, but not sure if Id pay $29 for the hotpot on a normal night.
Had the Groupon dinner at this restaurant last night. It was not a busy night and there were only five tables occupied by the time that we left. Arrived at 6:00pm as the first table and was greeted by the friendly staff. Honestly, wait-staff are attentive but most of the time they are grouping together behind the bar and near the kitchen, which could not shape a very hospitable vibe (even though I think they performed well). We chose the hot pots: combination set with milk soup and the Beef set with Miso soup. For the price that we paid, I reckon it is a bargain and it is also a fair deal even at regular price because the meat and vegetables are in generous portions and fresh. In addition, soup base are all good. However, if the chef can pay more attention to the beef (they are all frozen together like a rock), where diners do not need to wait for the defrost of the beef, review marks will certainly be higher 🙁
Have been to Kamikaze down the Gold Coast for the teppanyaki & it was ok. This one is pretty much the same, although this time we tried the hot pot set. Luckily we had a Groupon deal as we thought it to be a little overpriced for what we received. Our order was the seafood set with one milk base & one miso. Miso was ultra salty, milk was passable. Seafood selection was not bad, but there was only two smallish prawns, two minute pieces of snapper, lots of crab sticks (which I didn’t even bother to add to my pot) couple of scallops, sqid, wombok & mushrooms with a few udon noodles & tofu. Accompanying the pot was a small salad of lettuce & we had a small serve of matcha ice cream for dessert. Service was hit & miss
This place has so much potential. The service was good but there were times of staff chatting to each other but overall the ambience was fine. The food isnt exciting. Their menu is standard. No kids menu. Sushi range is small. Overall it was ok. Nothing exciting.
