Came here for lunch, one of my favourite breakfast cafes now. I was craving bruschetta (something different other than your basic bacon and eggs breakfast and noticed this place was a bit busy so decided to give it a try. Ordered the Prosciutto Bruschetta, the Smoked Salmon, the King Caesar salad and tried the Iced Chocolate (milk chocolate) and Very Berry Crush. Food:I absolutely love prosciutto so it was good to find a place where you can have it for breakfast (other than a topping on a pizza or in a salad with rocket). The flavour was amazing as well, prosciutto is usually hard to pair with as it is very salty but with the combination of cream cheese and sundried tomatoes on top of a sourdough bread, it worked really well! I tried a bit of the Smoked Salmon, it was good but quite average (something you could just make at home) but the flavour was nice with the Salmon, capers and cream cheese. I really enjoyed the King Caesar salad, the proportion and the amount of sauce was excellent! Although, a lot of Bacon was given and the croutons were quite large, the taste was delicious! The flavours between the garlic, bacon, Parmesan cheese balanced well as it added flavours to the lettuce and poached egg. A lot of different elements was in the salad so there was a lot of different flavours that worked really well all together and even eating them individually. Drinks:I love desserts but honestly, Im not a huge fan of sweet things first thing in the morning for breakfast. I was a bit hesitant on ordering a chocolate drink cause chocolate usually makes me even more thirsty but I knew that Oliver Brown were known for their Belgium chocolate so I decided to at least try it. It was surprisingly really good! Best decision ever! It wasnt too overly sweet and it was very smooth (which made it very easy to drink). The Very Berry Crush was very delicious and refreshing, great for if you want a nice, healthy pick me up drink in the morning (something different than your usual orange or watermelon juice). Price:The prices for the dishes was quite average ($14) for the Smoked Salmon and Prosciutto Bruschetta, ($14.50) for the King Caesar Salad and ($7.50) Iced Chocolate and ($7.80) Very Berry Crush. For the proportion of each dish and for the taste, (might be a tiny bit more expensive than other places but I feel that they were worth the money. They were quite filling as well but didnt make me feel overly bloated, plus there were a lot of different elements in each dish and it was quite a healthy breakfast overall. Ambiance and Service:I liked the feel of the place, even though it was quite busy it had a very calming atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly, even though a lot of them seemed to not know English very well, they were still polite and very friendly. Food came out pretty fast too and I did notice that their chef actually personally brought out the dishes to customers sometimes. I also like how there is an area where you can get your own water and utensils (its in the middle so very visible) because it saves you the trouble to ask for more water. Overall:Im glad that I gave this place a go (wish I had discovered it earlier but its better late than never!). I have walked past this place but the menu they put on the wall was very limited and had average meals like sandwiches and eggs & bacon breakfast meals so it was very unappealing to me, its a shame because they have a lot of varieties on their menu so they should really show that. The food was neatly presented and tasted great! I would definitely like to try more from their menu. Service was lovely so thank-you Oliver Brown staff! I would happily come back when I get a chance to!
We had been regulars to this cafe. The last few times we started to collect stamps on their loyalty card for the takeaway coffee we bought. Today we went back again for our coffee and asked if they could consolidate our stamps into one card from 2 cards. The female staff member refused to do so for the stated reason that she didnt want to waste a card. I understood the point but asked her to reconsider on the basis of our being regular customers. Despite that the staff member still refused our simple request, indicating she doesnt mind if she loses our custom over a simple card. What sort of approach to running a business is that! Anyway its their loss as there are thousands of other cafes out there.
It was great. My sisters and I enjoyed ourselves very much. They were worth the price considering how much was provided. We had breakfast prior to this so we didnt buy anything from the breakfast menu but everything looked great. We wish to try the breakfast next time.
