I will start my review with the fact that this is the only Spicers restaurant I have ever reviewed below 4 stars. We booked the Christmas in July longtable event, and as a whole we’re disappointed, the driveway is downright atrocious and a real tire puncture risk unless you drive a family SUV.The event started more than 1 hour behind schedule due to a group arriving late. From this point on things sadly didn’t improve,While the views are quite nice, the food was less than mediocre. The first course (as they call it) was a quarter of a bread roll with chicken butter that was soo heavily salted it must be used very sparingly. The second course was jumbo prawns In a horseradish emulsion, which while relatively tasty was not quite what you’d expect in a nice restaurant, having to devane my own prawns during the meal isn’t something I would expect from such a venue. The third course was a roasted spatchcock with roasted broccoli and a fantastic kale bake side, this dish was served as a table share dish, the spatchcock was neither seasoned nor crispy skinned(decent gravy though), it also sadly was dry( I assume this was due to sitting in a hotbox due to the late start. The sides however were good despite the serve next to me being cut into two pieces even though It was to be shared between four people. Now for the final course, a pineapple run cake with pineapple sorbet and chutney, this dish was average and the sorbet was more lemon than pineapple leaving a bitter after taste. All in all a pisspoor effort.

Attended a long table lunch recently and was quite dissapointed at what was presented. The main was really an appetiser at best consisting of a couple of spoons of marrowbone. To drive 2 hrs and be presented with virtually nothing shows a real contemp for the customer. I'm not sure what they were thinking. Such a shame as the location and building are amazing. Won't be back.
